Andy Gaus is the author of "The Unvarnished New Testament, " a
complete translation from the Greek, and the translator of Wilhelm
Busch's classic children's book, "Max and Moritz." A composer and
lyricist as well as a poet and translator, Gaus has written songs
and scores for revues, musicals and operas produced in Boston,
where he makes his home.
This volume collects Gaus's lifetime poetry output, with verse
translations from Rilke, Verlaine, Baudelaire, and Aeschylus, as
well as his own poems. The selections range from rhymed stanzas to
blank verse and free verse, marked by a distinctive lyricism and
musicality throughout.
