Democratic Control of Political Power is the second study carried
out under the Democratic Audit of the UK. Its starting point is the
widespread sense of unease among both the public and political
elites about the quality of government and public life in the UK.
It provides a comprehensive audit of the formal institutions and
processes of the British liberal democratic state, including: the
executive; elections; parliament; the civil service; agencies and
quangos; and ministers, bureaucrats and their departments. This
study should be of interest to those studying British politics and
its political system and to the interested general reader.
