Eighteenth-century Welsh Calvinist minister Edmund Jones's
narratives are presented in an updated and accessible form in this
book of collected apparitions. The testimonies of many witnesses to
supernatural encounters in 17th- and 18th-century Wales, from
abductions by fairies to poltergeist activity, are included. Like
many Protestant reformers before him, Jones was fascinated by the
occult and spent a lifetime gathering what he believed to be
incontrovertible evidence of the existence of apparitions. The
stories in this work evoke a spiritually dark landscape in which
the dead and damned wander, and present a fascinating insight into
how the people of the 18th century visualized and feared the spirit
world.
