Simmons uses a single synthetic series BARROCO for all his fantastic paintings. His first set includes series 1410 round brushes sizes 8, 12 and 20 and the second set also a round size 16 and series 2336 mottler size 18 for backgrounds and larger surfaces. According to Simmons, the round brushes point extraordinarily well, allowing the artist to paint the entire work of art with a single large size brush.
