First published in 1966, this book looks at life and its purpose.
It is made up of eighteen pieces by individuals from a wide range
of backgrounds who discuss their thoughts and beliefs on the
subject. Contributors come from varied disciplines including
literature, theology, politics, journalism and science. Some affirm
their faith in the human spirit and in life-enhancing activity,
some, including a distinguished surgeon, see their lives in terms
of service, or are more concerned with current social questions,
and some focus on the importance of the individual. What I Believe
is an intriguing text that becomes, as one reads it, a growing
revelation of how men and women find the meaning of life.
