1889. Its uses, as a remedial agent, in moral and intellectual
improvement, etc. The aim of the author in preparing this volume is
to furnish the general reader with a summary of principles and
facts bearing upon the subject, and to furnish them in a manner as
free from prejudice or partiality as his "personal factor" of bias
would permit. The accumulation of details from observation has
become so great that it is an impossible task for one to examine
and digest everything, and to present a summary that will prove
entirely comprehensive; hence, it is considered sufficient to show
how hypnotic control is obtained, what the best observers think of
its nature and to supply a variety of illustrations to indication
its extraordinary range of application in human life.
