The true story of how John Rock, aka "The Commodore" restored the
American Flag to Crab Island, on Lake Champlain, New York. Crab
Island was a burial ground during the Battle of Plattsburgh, in the
War of 1812. John, with brother Commander Michael Rock of American
Legion Post 1619, organized a group of volunteers from Clinton
County. They called themselves "Friends of Crab Island". Together
they restored the broken flag pole, erected proper grave markers,
to pay honor to the fallen American soldiers on the anniversary of
the Battle of Plattsburgh, every September 11th.
