Called upon to rescue a miniature mare, the United States Equine
Rescue League found the mare lifeless and unresponsive. She was
immediately taken to NC State University College of Veterinary
Medicine, where she began her extremely difficult road to recovery.
Sassy tells her story from her point of view, beginning with her
early life with her mother and other horses and the wonderful human
caregivers who provide for them. She takes the reader through the
unexplained change in her circumstances, life before her rescue,
her near-death experience, and ultimately, her rescue by USERL. Her
tenacity and determination to survive is amazing, and she now leads
a life in an idylic setting with loving human caregivers. This book
is writen for horse-lovers of all ages, and a large portion of the
proceeds from the sale of this book is donated to organizations
which rescue and rehabilitate horses who've been abused and
neglected.
