Focusing on planning as a political practice, this book looks at
the theory of state, of politics and of planning. The topics
covered in this book range from neo-Marxist theory and the
philosophy of praxis, to Max Weber and the rational state. The
author argues that although planning must still be accountable,
neither the domination of the market nor traditional post-war
planning ideologies are acceptable in the 1990s - that a new agenda
and a major rethink of planning from first principles is required.
