Well
"I read Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft with much
pleasure. This book contains enough information and know-how for
all approaches: the historical, the philosophical, and the
pragmatic . . . quite entertaining, as much for the armchair
enthusiast as for the practicing occultist."--Marion Zimmer
Bradley, author of The Mists of Avalon
"Never in the history of the Craft has a single book educated as
many people, spurred as many spiritual paths, or conjured as much
personal possibility as Buckland's Complete Book of
Witchcraft."--Dorothy Morrison, author of The Craft

The book is very informative but Buckland is very egotistical and keeps claiming the spotlight.
Set out in textbook style, it is a good way to learn the craft. One problem, he asks ridiculous questions.
I've been searching for the right kind of wicca for who I am, and this book made me realise that his brand of wicca is not it. I prefer being a Hedgewitch (green witch, nature).
The history of wicca is interesting, and if it weren't for his ego getting in the way, it would be an ok book. Take note of negative reviews, they tend to show the problems with the books. While this book may not be for me, it might be an excellent book for someone else.

This book gives a good overview, but as Nadine pointed out, Ray Buckland is something of an egotist.
The layout is pleasant, he writes in an easy to understand way, and the reviewed edition is decked out with more illustrations and photographs. I'd recommend it for novices who are seeking an informative "how to" guide and lessons in the basics.
A thing to remember with Buckland's Complete Guide is that he relies on other writers' books to expand on his chapters, or "lessons", so unless you can afford to buy two pages' worth of listed books, rather go with something like Silver RavenWolf's Solitary Witch (Ultimate Book of Shadows for a New Generation).
Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft is, generally speaking, a great primer, and includes rituals (mostly for coven formats).
