This book is a musical play about the poignant love between two
young people, Lovana and Kandyo. It is a tale of love and death.
The story line and the musical score draw heavily upon the folklore
of Haiti, but speak of events and struggles in modern life. Thus the
play opens doors to multiple worlds at the same time. No doubt it
is a metaphor for the everlasting quest of the people of Haiti for
transformation, their courage in the face of adversity, and their
profound faith in a better life. The text is written in a very
poetic style of Haitian Creole.
