The application of Shariah compliance in business transactions
continues to increase. The Asian financial crisis of 1997, global
financial crisis of 2007-2008, Enron scandal and other reported
ills besieging conventional business transactions have led to
advocates of Shariah-compliant business transactions promoting the
latter as a credible alternative. However, unlike the banking,
commerce and financial sectors, the uptake by the construction
sector was sluggish due to limited understanding of Shariah among
the practitioners and policymakers compounded by the lack of
research and publications on its application for the construction
sector. This book is intended for students, researchers,
practitioners and policymakers of the construction industry as well
as the related upstream and downstream activities. It offers basic
theories, challenges current practices, and proposes innovative
ideas on Shariah compliance and its application for the
construction industry.Related Link(s)

With a combined population larger than that of the EU or NAFTA,
economic integration of the ASEAN states will have a massive impact
on both the Asian and global economies. This book examines the
ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and its opportunities and
challenges. It looks at the impacts of economic integration, trade
structure and economic interlinkage among these countries through
case studies. The book also utilizes theories to further examine
areas such as trade, cross-border infrastructure, border
management, and the regional development in terms of trade
liberalization and foreign labor. This book also provides insight
and analysis to developing policies for "ASEAN Connectivity". Given
the challenges faced and huge potential impacts of the AEC's
cross-border project, this book will be of interest to policy
makers, business leaders and researchers in the ASEAN region and
throughout the world.
This book documents the experiences, development, and prospects of
the construction industry in numerous developing countries. It will
provide a strong base of reference for countries looking to improve
their construction industries as part of their wider economic
development programme. The opening chapter presents a strategic
overview of the contents of the book, and each country-specific
chapter is structured to consider the legal and policy frameworks,
administrative infrastructure and procedures, and implementation
mechanisms, as well as the experiences, current activities, and
future plans and programmes with respect to construction industry
development in each country. The concluding chapter looks forward
and considers the implications of future trends for the
construction industries in developing countries and the actions
which will be required to address them. Chapters cover: India,
Singapore, Chile, South Africa, Tanzania, Malaysia, Botswana,
Ghana, Uganda, Indonesia, China, Croatia, and Eswatini. Readers
will learn about the wealth of comparable stories from global
coverage from the detailed country-specific cases. Building on
important scholarly works in the field, this book is essential
reading for academics, researchers, and policy makers in built
environments, economics, construction management, infrastructure
management, and the wider construction industry.

This book is designed to be an inclusive for the best practice
approach to building maintenance management, where the processes,
procedures and operational systems meet a high standard of
professional and academic competence. It offers a different
perspective on building maintenance management by presenting the
schematic building maintenance value chain model and it's
implementation in Malaysian university buildings. The findings show
an improvement to building performance, lower maintenance cost,
building sustainability and increased maintenance service user
satisfaction. The learning outcomes and summaries provided for each
chapter and the extensive use of tables and figures add to the
readability of the text. Though the book is based on data from
Malaysia, it is useful for a much wider audience, and the informal
writing style makes it an interesting reference source. This book
is valuable for readers who are practitioners, professionals and
for academic institutions that offer courses in the building field,
including architecture, quantity surveying, civil engineering,
building and facility management, property management, real estate.
It will also be of interest to governments and others involved in
the construction industry.

explores the chemical properties of different classes of carbon
nanomaterials and their major applications. As carbon nanomaterials
are used for a variety of applications due to their versatile
properties and characteristics, this book discusses recent advances
in synthesis methods, characterization, and applications of 0D -3D
dimensional carbon nanomaterials. It is an essential resource for
readers focusing on carbon nanomaterials research.
Historic change has come to America with the election of President
Obama as the first African American president. President Obama is
on a global mission to not only bridge the gap of racial divide in
America, but also to bring peace to the Middle East. The American
people has captured his vision of hope and change, and the spirit
of change is sweeping the country with the rejuvenation of the

to our nation, and we must support the vision of our administration
to insure our peace and security.
The pathological behavior of a modern man is indebted to the
complexity of various environmental encounters acting as unspoken,
disconcerting even trivial events of day-to-day life. Each one of
us is exposed to such psychic and socio-cultural strains which are
inherent in the particular environments and will sooner or later
succumb to the need to fidget and to perform small trivial acts,
displaced from usual functional context and injected into quite
alien behavior sequences, in an attempt to avoid behavioral
stalemates of contradictory urges. It was surprising when somebody
had said: such and such garments make me uneasy and sick or I feel
completely relaxed with certain blend of Garments. We wanted to
make sure, if these influences have lasting maturational influences
on the body systems. Because an overload of stress, which may
arrive as a big chunk or in a series of small bits, may be a
Physical source of insult i.e. accidental trauma, malnutrition,
disturbed sleep or Psychological i.e., disturbed family, life, loss
of a job, personal insecurity etc. But the more appropriate
definition of a stressor is given in the most recent literature. A
stressor could be an environmental source, in more scientific words
"Extroceptive" i.e., natural calamities, chronic occupational
stress, over crowding, territorial conflicts, imposition of
stressful behavioral task, etc. This could also be a naturally
evoked "Agonistic" behavioral response, such as resulting from
confrontation with an attacking animal or an on-rushing car. But
the more complex behavioral response of an individual is observed
in response to activation of the cutaneous receptors, due to
Noxious or Nociceptive Stress. Initially, only painful stimuli were
attributed to have such influences. But later scientists used loud
noise and noxious cold stimulation and produced similar behavioral
responses. Our experience with the Synthetic Blend of Garments
showed similar behavioral reactions. We wanted
