A Warrior for Justice: Essays in Honour of Dikgang Moseneke is a
culmination of a series of events to honour former Deputy Chief
Justice, Dikgang Moseneke. A well-attended symposium was held at
the University of Cape Town on 7 December 2016, with thoughtful
presentations and engaged dialogue in honour of a great
jurisprudential mind and judicial leader. The papers presented at
the symposium appear in this volume, while additional papers were
included to add to the richness of the tribute which we pay to
Justice Moseneke upon his retirement from the Bench. The articles
in A Warrior for Justice are arranged into three main thematic
sections: judicial engagement and the separation of powers;
transformation, equality and indigeneity; and economic justice. In
addition, there are personal reflections from colleagues, friends
and a former Constitutional Court clerk. These reflections remind
us of the human being behind the distinguished legal mind of
Justice Moseneke.
John Merle Coulter contributed tremendously to the rapid advance of
botany in North America during the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries. An exploring mind, deeply religious spirit,
and scientist's respect for truth, combined with singular personal
charm, made of him not only a missionary in science, but a natural
leader among the botanists of the United States. He set for his
goal the building of a complete structure of the house of botany,
and he took the lead in organizing defined branches of study which
eliminated the waste of duplicated effort. The thread of this story
of his life is maintained largely through excerpts of the
correspondence of Coulter and his associates and by means of
articles from the Botanical Gazette, which he founded. Originally
published in 1944. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest
print-on-demand technology to again make available previously
out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton
University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of
these important books while presenting them in durable paperback
and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is
to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in
the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press
since its founding in 1905.

The laws of medieval Iceland (Gragas) are among the earliest
examples of a complex legal code, and provide fascinating insight
into early European legal systems and society. This first of two
volumes of these laws deals with subjects such as the Icelandic
Commonwealth's Christian laws, the treatment of homicide, and
procedures for the annual general assembly of lawmakers.
