The story begins in the early 1950s when the decision was made to build a new town on the Mackenzie Delta, as the centre of regional government and a base for resource development. Inuvik's fortunes have often been buffeted by far-away political decisions and market trends. But as the town enters the 21st century, its diverse peoples have built not only roads, houses and schools, but a rich and vibrant community.
