Stunned and bitter, they leave, but then it transpires that the "murder" is really an elaborate practical joke. Or is it?

It's the husband's half wit brother who plays detective, finds out what the lawyer is up to, discovers his brother in the slums and finds the true will. With the help of all men of good will, retribution is realized in the end.
