Stresses of Cucurbits: Current Status and Management (Paperback, 1st ed. 2020): Bholanath Mondal, Chandan Kumar Mondal, Palash... Stresses of Cucurbits: Current Status and Management (Paperback, 1st ed. 2020)

With advances in agro-technology, cucurbits are now being grown throughout the year. However, they are prone to biotic and abiotic stresses resulting in significant yield loss. Sustainable management of such stresses is a complex issue in the intensive cultivation of cucurbits involving high levels of fertilization and irrigation. Further, under the changing climatic conditions, pest scenarios vary constantly, with invasive alien species of pests becoming more common as a result of free trade and frequent international travel. As such, agrochemicals are being used as powerful weapons to combat the increasing number of pests and diseases. Lack of proper crop management technologies, inaccurate diagnosis, and indiscriminate and excessive use of pesticides are major causes of pesticide resistance and resurgence, environmental pollution, and hazards to the non-target biota. This comprehensive book provides essential insights into the management of biotic and abiotic stresses in cucurbit cultivation and re-evaluating the role of agrochemicals, and gathers information on insect pests, mites, nematodes, diseases and weeds, as well as on their sustainable management from scattered sources. Written in language that is easy to understand and including high-quality photographs, it is a valuable resource for students, researchers, plant protection specialists, extension workers, and growers.

Perturbations on quantum dynamical systems are of great relevance both in chemical physics and physical chemistry. The present study has answered a few such questions and raised many more. The ionization of halide anions explored through model can be calculated on solvated halide anions to extract accurate ion-water potentials. Studies on modelling thermal effects on photo-dissociation dynamics and dynamics of tunnelling indicate that part of the effects is accounted for by our choice and may be compared with experimental results. The proton as well as electron transfer processes can be explored in the connection of tunnelling phenomena. The quantum hysteresis is interesting as it arises out of the competition between two time-scales, the time scale of driving and relaxation. The time-lag between the two processes is important in determining the fate of energy redistribution in the systems after it is pumped in. Another important question concerning the Landau-Zener transition rates has been raised when we study the nuclear dynamics on coupled potential energy surfaces and the non-adiabatic processes. Overall a new methodology, TDFGH, has been proposed to study all such systems.
