"The Tree House Adventures" is truly a book for all ages. It is set
in a small farming community and is packed full of childhood
memories, some will make you laugh, some will tug at your
heartstrings. Imagine sitting around the kitchen table reminiscing
with your children and grand children, sharing with them what it
was like growing up in the 1950s.
We all do it, I know I do and with 40 million baby boomers
reaching retirement age it's fast becoming a national pastime. So,
sit back, relax and read on, enjoy a light-hearted romp back to the
past with two boys, their dog and three best friends.
American history has been produced by the union of disparate
states, each with its own ethnic, geographical and economic
history. Long appreciated by the nation's local citizens, the
richness and significance of local history has only recently been
reevaluated by academic authorities. The number of articles and
monographs on Kentucky history has increased dramatically since the
last Kentucky bibliography was published in 1949. This book
provides an indispensable guide to the literature on Kentucky
history.
After ten years on the Texas cattle trail with little to show for
it, twenty-six-year-old Clinton James heads west in hopes of
striking it rich in the California gold fields. Lady, his
salt-and-pepper gray, is getting old; he knows this will be her
last drive. Riding into the dusty little town of Bitter Creek,
James is broke, out of grub, and he has to find work-quickly.
While wondering if he made the right decision, Clinton meets the
first of many people along the western trail who will forever mark
his life-from the greedy merchants who would readily take advantage
of him, to the old stockman who tells Clinton of the riches to be
had at the Lost Ravine Gold Mine, and a beautiful young woman with
a little girl, both stranded after losing their belongings and
their families.
Clinton's journey to the Lost Ravine Gold Mine, one of the
richest strikes around, is a lonely trail with danger waiting
around every bend, where a lone rider could disappear and never be
missed. Will James make it to the gold fields, or will romantic
escapades and ruthless outlaws force him to abandon his dream?

This book examines cyberspace superiority in nation-state conflict
from both a theoretical and a practical perspective. This volume
analyses superiority concepts from the domains of land, maritime,
and air to build a model that can be applied to cyberspace. Eight
different cyberspace conflicts between nation states are examined
and the resulting analysis is combined with theoretical concepts to
present the reader with a conclusion. Case studies include the
conflict between Russia and Estonia (2007), North Korea and the US
and South Korea (2009) and Saudi Arabia and Iran in the Aramco
attack (2012). The book uses these case studies to examine
cyberspace superiority as an analytical framework to understand
conflict in this domain between nation-states. Furthermore, the
book makes the important distinction between local and universal
domain superiority, and presents a unique model to relate this
superiority in all domains, as well as a more detailed model of
local superiority in cyberspace. Through examining the eight case
studies, the book develops a rigorous system to measure the amount
of cyberspace superiority achieved by a combatant in a conflict,
and seeks to reveal if cyberspace superiority proves to be a
significant advantage for military operations at the tactical,
operational, and strategic levels. This book will be of much
interest to students of cyber-conflict, strategic studies, national
security, foreign policy and IR in general.

How did electrons in the high atmosphere and space around the Earth
come to acquire their speeds and energies?
This intriguing question lies at the heart of understanding how
high-energy electrons create the spectacular displays of the
DEGREESIAurora Borealis and DEGREESIAurora Australis. Electron
Acceleration in the Aurora and Beyond explores the mysteries of
these phenomena and others involving the acceleration of electrons
in the magnetosphere, in the solar wind, at the Sun and in the
Cosmos.
This book presents a new approach to understanding this fascinating
subject by treating the acceleration medium as a plasma. Using this
new insight we can see that electron acceleration may well be
caused by waves rather than steady potential differences. This
unique approach is clearly explained in a lively and engaging
style.
Quantitative formulae, experiments, practical demonstrations and
computer programs enable us to investigate for ourselves how the
model works. The theory is further illustrated by comparing
acceleration in space with particle accelerators in the nuclear
physics laboratory (and even on the sports field )
Questions and exercises with answers are supplied to stimulate
further thinking.
DEGREESIElectron Acceleration in the Aurora and Beyond is a
thought-provoking book for graduate and post-doctoral space
scientists.

The Way of Prayer is a 10-week resource designed to help people
expand their understanding of the nature and practice of prayer.
Many Christians grow up with a limited vision of what prayer is and
how to pray. The Way of Prayer offers many forms to explore and
practice, both individually and as a group. People with different
temperaments, spiritual types, and learning styles will each find
expressions of prayer that draw them closer to God. They will also
learn to integrate body, mind, and spirit in prayer, and to live a
more creative rhythm between the inner life and the outward journey
of service. This resource can help bring greater scope and vitality
into the prayer life of your congregation. Topics include:
How do you Pray?
Images of God?
Praying by Heart
Praying with Music
Praying by Gazing
Praying with Our Bodies
Scriptural Prayer
Contemplative Prayer
Praying with and for Others
Prayer and Social Transformation
- Small groups in local churches
- Companions in Christ customers
This new six-week Companions in Christ study challenges Christians
from the viewpoint of a white South African pastor who has lived
through the political changes in that country and experienced with
rare vulnerability the spiritual struggles inherent in the
processes of truth-telling, reconciliation, deep pain, and poverty.
Trevor Hudson brings a message of vital, transforming spirituality
through knowing who we are, changing from the inside out, listening
to the groans of others, and discovering the deep spirituality of
belonging.
The 28-week basic Companions in Christ experience looks at five
major parts of the Christian life:
-Embracing the Journey: an exploration of spiritual formation
-Feeding on the Word: an introduction to several ways of meditating
on and praying with scripture
-Deepening Our Prayer: a guided experience of various classic forms
and styles of prayer
-Responding to Our Call: a presentation of gifts and call
-Exploring Spiritual Guidance: a journey through different ways of
giving and receiving spiritual guidance.
