Another intriguing novel of suspense in David J Moran's usual eclectic style. The Hero of the tale, is a young man, Richard Peaceman who embarks on a mission to discover his family ancestry and verify mysterious stores that have been handed down through the family with the implications of a possible mis-appropriation of the family inheritance. Bored in his career as a Civil Servant, and armed with the family Bible he travels to Cheshire to unravel clues leading to the discovery of an ancestral Manor home, now lying vandalised, yet still with the suggestion of hidden treasure. It is not long before he discovers he is not alone in the search and finds himself in life threatening situations. In his quest for evidence Richard suddenly finds himself transported back to the eighteenth century, where he encounters an enemy hell bent on securing the property, lands and finding the treasure for himself. Richard's survival depends on him being able to deal with the harsh living conditions of the times and self preservation as he endevours to solve various strange clues he comes across. This unusual tale of mystery, romance, violence, and murder leaves the reader bemused as to its eventual outcome, as intimated in the title. I am of the opinion this is his best work yet
At last, the long awaited final sequel of the Trident Tales trilogy, bringing to the conclusion of Jerry Palmer's relentless search for a release from the unusual state of entrapment he has been committed to, but not before he encounters further dealings of black Magic, evil, satanic horrors, lust and debauchery of the underworld in the devils quest with the help of his mindless slaves to rule the world This gripping and chilling tale is a must read for those who have enjoyed the authors first two books in the trilogy, as David J Moran keeps the reader in suspense right to the very end. Will Good triumph over Evil...? A very big 'Thank You' to all my friends, especially my wife Christine, as this book was very nearly not written, as it was hit by a nasty virus, which no doubt aided to the computer 'crashed ' almost destroying all of the story line, of some 300 pages. However, and why this book has a second title, it is now on the market place for you to read, and will you find the secret message? If I did not know better...I was beginning to wonder who was trying to tell me something, or was that a shadow on the wall, with the room cooling as I sat down to write, silly I know...or is it?. David J Moran
The book is partly historic, yet so much of the past is what we see and do today, so it will be no surprise that I start my book at the stage when a foundling; Sid Smith, is left at the Workhouse, as this is part of his true story, adjusting his life skills so that he could stay alive. He is aided by a Lady, who can only see the good in him, the evil was from where he had been forced to live, he is educated, not only in the three R's but life as well. The teacher is a failure in life according to his Mother-in-law, who for reasons beyond her comprehension allowed her only daughter to marry him, only to discover he was below their social standing within the country set. While they, the daughters parents; stood aloof as he was a Captain in the Cavalry, while she the Lady of the Manor, with major responsibilities of selection, or rejection of persons to enter the exclusive social set, such as Hunting, Balls, Parties, none of which were organised, as well as chaperoned with out her due consideration. Then came the War to end all Wars, Life took on new meanings, not only at home but in the trenches, this is where Sid Smith's tale stops, and fiction takes over
Life in a quiet cul-de-sac, where a group of strangers establish themselves in their new homes as well as in this small community. However all is not as it first seemed; for already there is a decisive power that wants and needs control, not only of their lives but all those who have bought homes within this tight knit community
Jerry has awoken, to find he is now a woman, in all appearance, yet he is aware that his brain is still that of a man, while those around him seek to protect him from the outside world. He/ She is now Geraldine, engaged in lowly tasks in his/her former home, now being used as an unmarried mothers maternity home. Yet all is not what it seems to be, there is an element of fear, making one almost an introvert to 'toe the company line' yet Geraldine senses evil, not only in the rest of the Staff, but the house as well. Can the intervention of the police in their search for Sister Sterling as well as Jerry, in helping with their inquiries into several cases of murder, help ot hinder? Why has Geraldine been selected, for what purpose, is it part of a plan the satanic leader has ordered...?
Jean Stirling is a low-paid, disillusioned nurse, old before her time, and her only friend is a bottle of vodka. Unexpectedly, her whole life is turned around after the arrival of a new patient on her ward, Jerry, the seriously injured victim of a car crash. Despite being bedridden, Jerry finds a release for his pent-up frustration through some extraordinary powers which allow him to travel outside his body and wreak a bloody vengeance on all those who thwart him, in particular, his wife and her lover. He believes he has found a "convert" in Nurse Jean to help him fulfil his ruthless schemes. But is it Jerry who has power over Jean? Or are they both spiders caught in the same web? Don't miss the tale's ominous warnings that foreshadow a chilling and sinister climax. David J Moran lives with his wife, Christine, in a small rural village on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. Now retired, he was a principal officer of the Prison Service for some thirty years; his colourful experiences support many of the storylines developed in his writing. This is his first book, which is one of a trilogy.
