The comedy 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' (2011), follows the experiences of a group of elderly Brits, including Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Maggie Smith, who arrive to take up residence in a newly-opened retirement home in Bangalore, India. Despite its glossy publicity campaign, the Marigold turns out to be rather different from the refurbished luxury hotel advertised in the brochures. However, it soon begins to reveal some unexpected charms of its own. In 'We Bought a Zoo' (2011), Matt Damon stars as newly widowed Benjamin, who is finding life difficult trying to raise his two young children. Urged on by his father, Duncan (Thomas Haden Church), to start over, he decides to purchase a rundown zoo in the countryside in the hope that it will bring his family together again. Having to care for 47 species, and with his friends thinking he's mad, Benjamin sets out to restore the zoo to its former glory with the help of a small but loyal staff led by Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson). Finally, in 'The Descendants' (2011), trustee for a large estate, Matt King (George Clooney) has had a fairly easy life to date. Living in the tropical island of Hawaii, with his financial future secure, King has grown complacent to an extent that is only brought home to him when a boating accident sends his wife, Elizabeth (Patricia Hastie), into a coma. Left in sole charge of the daughters he has largely neglected, Scottie (Amara Miller) and Alex (Shailene Woodley), Matt is called to face his responsibilities as an adult. However, when he discovers that Elizabeth had been having an affair in the months leading up to the accident, a test of his newfound emotional maturity is presented. The film won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Collection of sci-fi films directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Sharlto Copley. In 'Chappie' (2015), revolutionary scientist Deon (Dev Patel) awakens his latest creation, a robot with artificial intelligence and the ability to think and feel like a human. As the robot, Chappie (voice of Copley), begins to develop in the same ways a human would, society around him finds it increasingly difficult to accept him into their lives. After Chappie is kidnapped by South African gangsters who wish to do him harm, Deon puts all his efforts into finding his creation and proving to the world that Chappie is not dangerous but merely provides evidence of the next generation of thinking. 'District 9' (2009) is a feature based on the 2005 short film 'Alive in Jo'berg', about the tense relationship that exists between a group of aliens who have been living on earth for 30 years and the humans who have been trying to keep them segregated and under their control. The aliens live in a place called District 9 in South Africa in squalid conditions and are now under the supervision of Multi-National United (MNU), a company who are solely interested in exploiting the aliens' superior technology to make money. However, the only way of getting the extraterrestrial technology to work is by using alien DNA, so when MNU worker Wikus van der Merwe (Copley) accidentally becomes infected with the alien DNA, he suddenly finds that he is a very desirable commodity. Realising he is alone and in serious danger, and as relations between the aliens and humans intensify, Wikus must enter District 9 in order to escape. In 'Elysium' (2013), it is the year 2154 and the wealthy have fled the overpopulated and largely resource-drained Earth in favour of Elysium, a luxurious space habitat located in the planet's orbit. With no poverty, no sickness and no war, the contrast between Elysium and the ravaged planet it revolves around couldn't be starker, the idea of which is extremely tough to bear for those left on Earth. When Earth-bound Max De Costa (Damon) learns that he has no hope of beating his cancer, he decides his only option is to break into Elysium. With Secretary Delacourt (Foster) charged with enforcing Elysium's strict anti-immigration policies with a team of hardened troops at her disposal, led by the ferocious Agent Kruger (Copley), Max faces the battle of his life if he intends to bridge the cosmic gap between rich and poor.

A collection of four films directed by Danny Boyle. '127 Hours' (2010) traces the true story of trapped hiker Aron Ralston's fight for survival. Setting out alone and telling no-one where he's going, Ralston (James Franco) begins a hiking expedition in the mountains of Utah. Young, and with a zest for life, he takes rock-climbing in his stride, fearing nothing, with a permanent smile on his face. Soon after crossing paths with fellow hikers Kristi (Kate Mara) and Megan (Amber Tamblyn), however, Ralston becomes trapped in a remote canyon when a falling boulder crushes his arm. Over the following days, and with nobody to hear his calls for help, Ralston undergoes a gruelling fight for survival that tests his spirit to the limits, and ultimately decides whether he lives or dies. The thriller '28 Days Later' (2002) follows what could happen after a viral attack, with the virus so deadly that within seconds the infected person is taken over by a murderous rage, permanently. After 28 days there is only a handful of non-infected survivors, but the virus is not the only thing they have to contend with... In the futuristic thriller 'Sunshine' (2007) it's 50 years from now and the sun is on its way out, threatening mass destruction here on Earth. It falls to eight sexy astronauts (including Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, Michelle Yeoh and Chris Evans) who have been dispatched to the heart of the solar system in a ship called, ominously, the Icarus II - to kickstart the sputtering star. Finally, in the multi-award winning 'Slumdog Millionaire' (2008), Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is an 18-year-old street kid from the slums of Mumbai who has managed to get through to the final round on the Indian version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire'?
