"How wonderful it is to have this book to be able to recognize the
negatives that ill our thoughts. The possibility for people to
change Edward says is now conceivable. Edward Jones knows the path
to living a life of significance is to know who we are. To live
with a sense of purpose where in our lives we create meaning, a
life of significance. The Awakening reveals universal truths to
provide us all the understanding. His ultimate goal is to place our
minds in position, for us to grow true to form and live out our
primary purpose. Sad to say it's that very purpose we've turned
against. This book explains it's by our turning against this
purpose we're destroying our selves and our world. Certain chaos is
in only a matter of time, for it's the present negatives in our way
of thinking, following their instinctive course. But it's Edward's
inspiring message that provides the understanding and Hope." - Bill

Roman Britain, first published in 1972, gives the young reader a
vivid impression of the British Isles immediately preceding, during
and after the Roman occupation, which lasted for 400 years. Using a
selection of extracts, both historical and imaginative, it offer a
suitably comprehensive account of Roman Britain: the campaigns
fought to subdue it, the military and civil government established
to govern it, relations between the Imperial administration and the
natives, and the departure of the legions to fight elsewhere in the
Empire. Selections of poetry by John Masefield, W.H. Auden, Rudyard
Kipling and A.E. Housman are included, together with prose extracts
from Bede, Tacitus, Hilaire Belloc, Henry Treece, Alfred Duggan,
Rudyard Kipling. Physically compact, Roman Britain encourages young
classicists and historians to engage imaginatively with the
subject, whilst also supplying ample opportunity for more detailed
discussion and further reading.

Ecological economics is an exciting interdisciplinary field of
study that combines insights from the natural sciences, economics,
philosophy and other fields to develop innovative approaches to
environmental problems. It draws on a wide range of analytical
perspectives, some radical others more conventional, to build a
more complete understanding of human-ecosystem interactions.
Current research in the field includes work on nature conservation,
land use planning, pollution control, natural resource management,
and environmental impact assessment/evaluation.
"Ecological Economics" provides a comprehensive introduction to
the core themes, presented in a clearly structured style, with
chapters tailored specifically to readers without any economic or
philosophical training. There is an emphasis throughout on the
complementary roles of economics, ethics and ecology in
environmental decision-making processes. The book reviews the
evolution of important ideas in the field, explores the fundamental
philosophies underlying different approaches to environmental
problems, explains in detail the specific tools and techniques used
in these approaches, and gives numerous examples of how they can be
applied. Special importance is attached to understanding both the
advantages and limitations of different analyses, in order to
provide a balanced and coherent view of how these different
approaches interrelate and how their roles vary in different
contexts.
Written by three authors specializing in ecology, economics and
philosophy, this textbook provides an excellent introduction to the
field of ecological economics for students in the natural sciences
and other environmental disciplines. It will also be of interest to
a wide range of professionals and researchers involved in
environmental management and policy, and thers including economists
seeking to broaden their knowledge of new methodologies and
approaches. Further reading suggestions and extensive references
are provided for those interested in pursuing particular themes
beyond the introductory level.
The first introductory ecological economics text written
specifically for natural scientists.
Assumes no prior knowledge of economics or philosophy.
Emphasises the complementary roles of ecology, economics and ethics
in environmental decision-making processes.
An emphasis on clarity and accessibility throughout.
'Sumptuous, sexy and haunting' Santa Montefiore.
Brimming with black magic, sex and intrigue, a gorgeous historical novel for fans of Dinah Jefferies and Santa Montefiore.
The Russian Empire is on the verge of collapse. Revolution is in the air. The starving stalk the streets of St Petersburg and yet the Imperial Court still commute between their estates and organise their lavish balls.
Two sisters arrive in the city. Princesses from Montenegro; they are famed for their wild beauty and mystical powers. Initially ridiculed and outcast as the daughters of a provincial 'Goat King', they react in the only way they know how. They befriend the isolated Tsarina Alexandra and, using their gifts, they help her in her increasingly desperate quest to give birth to a son and heir. The circle closes. The girls are the gateway. Gurus, clairvoyants, holy fools and charlatans all try their luck. Then in one last, doomed, throw of the dice, the sisters introduce Rasputin into the Russian Court...
Based on the true story of the lives of Princess Militza and Princess Anastasia of Montenegro during the dying days of the Russian Empire, The Witches of St Petersburg is a tale of love, lust, power and betrayal at the heart of the Romanov Court.
Using practical examples, this book demonstrates how a theoretical
model for shared care operates in practice to deliver improved
health outcomes within limited resources. It shows how
clinically-led initiatives can influence health care commissioning
strategies, and how the implementation of the model meets the needs
of clinicians, purchasers and providers. The model and evaluation
protocols advocated here provide a firm foundation for the
development of shared care in the future.
The experimental and diverse writings of John Milton's early career
offer tantalizing evidence of a precocious and steadily ripening
author. Traditionally scholars have looked to Poems 1645 for
evidence of his development as a poet and its bearing upon his
career as a prose writer for over two decades, but such an approach
has sometimes obscured and more often ignored the unique
accomplishment of Milton's early career by characterizing his
juvenilia as self-conscious writing designed to chronicle artistic
progression. Young Milton seeks to fill a scholarly void regarding
Milton's early Latin and English writing (there has been no volume
exclusively focused on his writing of the 1620s, 1630s, and the
first years of the 1640s). For the most part the essays in this
collection reject the idea of a linear development in favor of
achievement of various kinds, unequal in merit, and not predicated
upon maturation over time. Such maturity indeed may occur, but the
early writing of Milton results from a wide variety of
occasions-religious holidays; family celebrations; grammar school
exercises and university requirements; the deaths of family
members, ministers, university officials, and personal friends;
aristocratic celebrations and commissions. This occasionality
challenges the argument for the young author's uniform progress.
The writings explored include Lycidas, one of the most celebrated
elegies ever written in English, and The Passion, an unfinished
poem declared by its author to involve a subject beyond his grasp.
