In 1939 Aron is a soldier in the Polish Army. Captured by the
Germans his valued skills as a shoemaker protect him until his true
identity is revealed. Shipped back for slave labor and certain
death, fate reunites him with Gitel, the woman he has long pursued.
Midst escalating violence they marry, and soon Gitel has a child.
Their decision to hide with the girl jeopardizes the safety of
others and the choice they are forced to make turns into tragedy.
