Factorizations of Almost Simple Groups with a Solvable Factor, and Cayley Graphs of Solvable Groups (Paperback): Cai-Heng Li,... Factorizations of Almost Simple Groups with a Solvable Factor, and Cayley Graphs of Solvable Groups (Paperback)
Cai-Heng Li, Binzhou Xia
R2,300 Discovery Miles 23 000 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

A characterization is given for the factorizations of almost simple groups with a solvable factor. It turns out that there are only several infinite families of these non-trivial factorizations, and an almost simple group with such a factorization cannot have socle exceptional Lie type or orthogonal of minus type. The characterization is then applied to study s-arc-transitive Cayley graphs of solvable groups, leading to a striking corollary that, except for cycles, a non-bipartite connected 3-arc-transitive Cayley graph of a finite solvable group is necessarily a normal cover of the Petersen graph or the Ho?man-Singleton graph.

Environmental Management in Construction - A Quantitative Approach (Paperback): Zhen Chen, Heng Li Environmental Management in Construction - A Quantitative Approach (Paperback)
Zhen Chen, Heng Li
R1,495 Discovery Miles 14 950 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Demands on the construction industry are changing, and it is now virtually essential for environmental management to be considered at all stages of a project. Many construction managers are finding a quantitative approach useful, and this book outlines four quantitative methods which can be applied at different construction stages, and which fit within a comprehensive framework of dynamic Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). These include: a method to quantitatively evaluate and reduce pollution and hazards levels a method to evaluate the environmental-consciousness of proposed construction plans a method to reduce on-site construction wastes through an incentive reward programme a method to promote C and D waste exchange in the local construction industry. With an experimental case study of the application of these methods, this book delivers a comprehensive review of environmental management issues in construction. With regulatory requirements potentially favouring the quantitative approach, this timely guide ensures that contractors will be able to keep pace with environmental management standards.

Environmental Management in Construction - A Quantitative Approach (Hardcover): Zhen Chen, Heng Li Environmental Management in Construction - A Quantitative Approach (Hardcover)

As the construction industry changes the need for the effective incorporation of environmental considerations has become widely accepted. It is now being enforced effectively in many countries. Large numbers of construction managers can find value in adopting quantitative approach to environmental management, and this book outlines an integrative methodology for applying knowledge-based dynamic environmental impact assessment in construction.
Four quantitative methods are presented for the application of the techniques at different construction stages, fitting within a comprehensive framework of dynamic Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). These are a method to quantitatively evaluate and reduce pollution and hazards levels, a method to evaluate the environmental-consciousness of proposed construction plans and select the best one, a method to reduce on-site construction wastes through an incentive reward programme, and a method to promote C&D waste exchange in the local construction industry. Finally, the implementation of the integrative analytical approach is illustrated using an experimental case study.
Contractors should be able to conduct effective, efficient and economical environmental management and achieve their targets in line with governmental laws and regulations, the ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS), or environmental management standards within their enterprises. Most environmental management tools used at present are qualitative, but potential requirements are quantitative, so this book fills the need.

Deformation-Based Processing of Materials - Behavior, Performance, Modeling, and Control (Paperback): Heng Li, Ming Wang Fu Deformation-Based Processing of Materials - Behavior, Performance, Modeling, and Control (Paperback)

Deformation Based Processing of Materials: Behavior, Performance, Modeling and Control focuses on deformation based process behaviors and process performance in terms of the quality of the needed shape, geometries, and the requested properties of the deformed products. In addition, modelling and simulation is covered to create an in-depth and epistemological understanding of the process. Other topics discussed include ways to efficiently reduce or avoid defects and effectively improve the quality of deformed parts. The book is ideal as a technical document, but also serves as scientific literature for engineers, scientists, academics, research students and management professionals involved in deformation based materials processing.
