Chimney Dweller describes a journey through the perimenopausal mind
of a married woman after her "nest" has emptied. The woman enters
into a stream of consciousness of discovery to redefinition and
self empowerment based on a coincident event in her life when
during her 50th winter, an unknown animal becomes a resident within
her family room chimney. As the woman ponders what the creature
might be, its condition, and her possible need for intervention,
she is inspired to consider parallels in her life versus that of
the animal which, in the book, ultimately become a metaphor for the
self realization she was seeking.
This book is a "MUST READ" for those who are planning to build a
horse barn/farm, those who are just dreaming of some day building
one, those on a limited budget, those on a limitless budget
(because you will still have to give direction to your planners and
architects to make sure you wind up with a functional barn/farm,
and the one you wanted), those looking to buy an existing farm,
those of you boarding, and anyone who rides or is thinking about
riding (because the horse's housing and care will contribute to the
horse's overall temperament and ability to perform). The author
offers hard facts and information from her real life experience
building and operating her own horse farm and her more than twenty
years of horse ownership and hunter/jumper show competition.
Anecdotal stories and "lessons" (epiphanies) are included to
emphasize points to help readers avoid making mistakes in their own
barn/farm construction projects.
DuckDumB is a fun and educational, illustrated children's book for
children to enjoy looking at, reading, and discussing about a duck
who awakens to find that his field of foraging has turned into a
pond of dreams. As the reader sees the duck's imagination unfold
and soar through a series of illustrations with interspersed
rhyming verse, the reader is also shown the day/night cycle, the
rain/sun/evaporation process, the basic building blocks of a
village, and ultimately how the heights of imagination are
eventually forced to return to the realm of reality.
The message of this story is that bullying can occur because your
situation has changed--not because of who you are. Maggie, a happy
and popular junior high student, was challenged to hold onto her
personal self worth when her father lost his job, their family farm
was forced into foreclosure, and they became homeless. The family
decided to live in a homemade camper on the back of their pickup
truck and drive to Florida to find a better life. Stuck in
homelessness, with their homemade camper as their only home, and
their personal lives deteriorating, Maggie's mother insisted Maggie
go back to school. Based on her poor and unstylish appearance,
Maggie was singled out and bullied by an upscale classmate and her
entourage who found Maggie's appearance intolerable. But once her
father found a job, the situation changed so that Maggie's real
value was finally allowed to be seen, and the bullying finally
ended.

It tells you what you need to know so you can follow in their
