This narrative-based work is the first to describe Human Caring
Literacy from the perspective of caring scientists who "live the
life" by incorporating the precepts of human caring into every
aspect of their personal and professional lives. It demonstrates,
for nursing students and experienced nurses in a variety of roles,
the abundant ways in which Caring Science Theory powerfully informs
the lives of frontline clinicians, nursing deans and faculty,
APRNs, and administrators in the United States and globally. The
book goes beyond theory to illustrate how Caring Science is used
every day in a variety of arenas and scenarios, ranging from the
advancement of the discipline of nursing in South America to
peacemaking in the Middle East. It describes the methods that help
practitioners develop mindfulness, reflection, authentic presence,
intentionality, and a caring consciousness in the service of
providing authentic, heart-centered care for patients, their
families, and societies. Designed to cultivate loving-kindness
behaviors in all settings, including among nurses themselves, these
narratives provide welcome alternatives to current ways of being,

This innovative text, built on the foundations of Watson's Caring
Science, demonstrates how nursing professionals can develop virtual
relationships that encompass caring and understanding in
professional, teaching/learning, and everyday cyber communications.
It describes how caring and love can transcend distance, space, and
time in our increasingly 'virtual"" world in order to preserve the
basic fabric of humanity as we physically interact less and
electronically interact more. Straightforward and concise, the text
offers specific practices for teachers, students, and professionals
that support caring in a digital world along with practical
examples that enable readers to envision ways to create their own
caring online presence.
Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring (Caritas) is now used in
approximately 300 health care institutions in the United States and
other institutions worldwide. This is the first international
compendium of Caritas research, presenting the findings of 41
studies from 7 countries. The book examines similarities and
differences in the ways in which each country applies Watson's
Theory and documents the outcomes of these interventions. It
addresses relationships between nurses and patients, nurses and
their colleagues, self-care, and how Caritas is used to resolve
outcome issues system-wide.
The book discusses at length eight different Caring Factor
surveys, primary research tools for those using the Caritas
process, which identify constructs that either support or impede
caring in multiple settings. The first section focuses on the
theoretical underpinnings of Caritas and presents seven adaptations
of the Caring Factor Survey. Section II addresses measurements and
methods for facilitating a caring relationship between nurse and
patient. Measurements and interventions to facilitate Caritas in a
variety of settings is the focus of Section III, and the final
sections address the international measurement and international
comparisons of Caritas. The volume will be an important resource
for nurse leaders, educators, administrators in academia including
unit managers, and for hospitals with or seeking Magnet status. The
book serves as a complement to Watson's "Assessing and Measuring
Caring in Nursing and Health Care" and" Creating a Caring Science
Curriculum: An Emancipatory Pedagogy for Nursing. " A
co-publication with the Watson Caring Institute, this volume:
Presents cutting-edge tools derived from the Caring Factor
Survey for measuring caring in multiple contexts Discusses
similarities and differences in caring contexts across nations
Documents outcomes of Caritas in varied settings in the United
States and internationally Addresses nurse-patient and
nurse-colleague relationships, self-care, and resolution of
system-wide outcome issues
Caring for a terminally ill loved one can be the single biggest
challenge of your life. Drawing from her experience sitting with
over 500 people as they died and caring for her own terminally ill
father, Dr. Lani Leary gently guides caregivers, family, and
friends through the difficult transitions of illness, death, and
bereavement.
"No One Has to Die Alone "offers the practical skills, vocabulary,
and insights needed to truly address the needs of a dying loved one
while caring for yourself through the process. Dr. Leary shows both
patient and caregiver how to rise above feelings of fear and
isolation to find peace and meaning in each person's unique
end-of-life experience.
Whether used as a reference book to address a particular challenge
or read from start to finish, this is a must-read for anyone facing
death or the loss of a loved one. You'll learn:
- how to listen to and support a loved one's needs;
- what to expect as a loved one declines and the different grieving
processes and tasks;
- the key to supporting a grieving child;
- what resources are available for patients and caregivers;
- the lessons of near-death experiences and the value of
after-death communications.

This book of 24 undated reflections draws comfort and inspiration
from the Bible and from experience for those who are going through
a time of bereavement, as well as providing insight for those
wanting to support others who are bereaved. Jean Watson suggests
how it might feel to get through the dark days and to move, however
slowly, from 'getting by' with help, to 'getting a life' in which
living with loss goes alongside the gains in terms of new insights
on faith and life and a greater ability to empathise with others.
The story of Corrie ten Boom has inspired millions of people all
over the world. Jean Watson is a skillful author and presents
Corrie's stirring life and challenging hope-filled message for

her suffering in Nazi concentration camps, to her world-wide
ministry to the handicapped and underprivileged. This exciting
victorious book will allow you to meet this beloved woman and learn
of God's wonderful provision and blessing through adversity.
A Pocket sized version with easy-to-read text. It's a long and
exciting journey to the celestial city - and as Christian tackles
the problems and dangers on the way, we learn about the problems
and dangers in our own lives. John Bunyan wrote this book
originally so that we can learn about how God wants us to live and
that the only way to face our problems is with Jesus. John Bunyan
became one of the world's favourite Christian writers - with his
