This impressive book is richly illustrated with 91 gorgeous macro
photographs - of flowers, and also some of their pollinators - by
John Rodrigues, an artist who has taken that time to truly see. We
invite you to sit back, maybe with a cup of hot Chamomile tea, and
indulge in these images - taking the time to truly see these
flowers, and to appreciate their inherent majesty. John Rodrigues
takes an old lens and new camera and gives us a new look at an old
photographic subject.

Sara Jackson is no common thief-for-hire. She uses her limited
teleportation abilities to "acquire" art and artifacts for clients.
With the help of her older brother Max and their tech-savvy friend
Claudette, Sara must gather a trio of ancient Egyptian relics, but
these three apparently easy heists turn out to have both hidden
dangers and cosmic consequences.
Like so many before me, the emergence of an unknown force seized my
appetite and passion away from my life-long profession. It embraced
me lovingly and pushed me gingerly into a direction that was not
part of my original mission. Suddenly, I am restless and unable to
rest my pen; unable to ignore the flow of information that followed
me night and day; unable to avoid the urge to befriend the hearts
and souls of people everywhere. Incapable to resist the element of
change, and powerless to pursue my professional goals vigorously, I
slowly but obediently surrendered to the relentless power of my
inner being. So here I am - an unknown author writing and enjoying
every bit of my book, "THE FORGOTTEN HEROES." Personally, I do not
have the scientific answers why such extraordinary changes occur.
Why should anyone leave one of the most fulfilling and lucrative
careers and walk in faith along uncharted and unfamiliar paths? I
truly don't know. However, I can say with confidence that this new
twist of faith has opened my eyes to a world I never saw before. I
now hear voices with ears that span across the oceans and feel the
heartbeats of those I don't know. The story, "The Forgotten
Heroes," reminds me of one of my favorite stories, "If You Know Me,
You May Save Me" that was written in my first published book, "My
Inner Thoughts." It was written many years ago and left there to
collect dust. But somehow it was resurrected and became the main
theme for this book. "The Forgotten Heroes" explains the difficult
times our fore-parents endured to create the foundation of the
society we freely enjoy today. It is a reflection of their
unconditional love for each other, their faith and trust in their
Creator, their dependence on each other and their overwhelming
attachment to nature.
This book is a collection of inspirational poems and essays. They
depict my passion for social justice, the rebirth of spirituality
and my burning desire to lift the self-esteem and confidence of the
younger generation. It opens a window of opportunity to boost the
fading desire, the dwindling zealousness and waning determination
of young adults who have lost hope in pursuing their dreams to
become achievers, and who question the loyalty of their peers. The
poetries serve as a stimulus to encourage our young people to
revamp their self-confidence and booster their potentials. The book
assembles topics that form a stairway of encouragement, confidence
and hope for those left behind; for those who are on the edge of
losing their identity and those who have misplaced their
determination to pursue their dreams. It emphasizes the importance
of merging the body, mind and spirit as one complete being that
empowers the individual to ascend to unreachable heights. The essay
'Reflection' describes the urgency and importance of answering the
question; who am I? It states, "I came into this world a solitary
soul. I came into the world possessing one body and one mind." This
is the strength of the individual. The poem 'A Child' is an
affirmation that I am a child of the Great Almighty and I am child
of His Royal Family. It reminds us that we are not ordinary people,
and we do have a supernatural father. 'I am Unique' is a
fascinating upbeat poem that was written for the children of the
world. It emphasizes how exclusive, rare and special each child is.
It reads, "I am no ordinary boy or girl; I am a priceless nugget of
gold chosen to enlighten the world." 'Rise' is a confidence builder
and motivates the children to leave the disguise of the falling
pants or the temptation to join gangs behind and reach for the sky.
'The Misty Journey' is a poem constructed through the eyes of an
unknown woman who witnessed the horrific journey the slaves
encountered on the open seas and in the fields. 'Feed Me' was a
persistent cry to the Lord to fill my hungry heart with love, peace
and compassion. The poem 'Opportunity' denounces the reliance on
hand-outs and argues for a chance to become somebody in the
society. To underscore the importance of inclusiveness, I chose the
following words: "Giving is the robe that clothes the soul; it
consoles the heart and makes it whole." At the end of the book, I
included the essay entitled 'A Prayer.' It's all about a
conversation I had with God to pursue my new career in writing even
though the path looked impossible. It is an amazing story of
obedience. I became an author and a poet not by choice, but by the
constant reminder by my inner spirit to speak out on behalf of our
young adults and the under-privileged. It has been a difficult and,
at times, an unrewarding task, but I persevered. I changed careers
and stuck to the message of empowering and awakening the sleeping
spirits of the young adults. I found out it is impossible to
achieve long-term happiness or to attain continued success or to
expect peace within the family without the intervention of divine
grace. So after many stumbles along the way, I was committed to
assist the next generation along the path to their destiny as I was
led to mine. There, they would find a world filled with respect,
discipline, peace and harmony. I know what my belief in the Creator
has done to change my life around. Now, I can say, without a doubt
that the survival of the human race does not rest in the hands of a
few elected people, but in the hearts of every person coupled with
the love of God.
The book emphasizes the unfailing divine power that exists in every
person. It is a collection of short stories that constantly remind
us who we are. It reflects the importance of the family and
acknowledges the individual contributions of everybody in building
a cohesive and harmonious society. The author uses the stories to
underscore the natural relationship between the body and spirit; a
oneness that invigorates the awakening of our failing spiritual
nature. Carelessly we have been programmed to prioritize the need
and desires of our physical nature. Hopefully, a reunification of
the two would soften the way we see and judge things. By so doing,
we would appreciate others and the roles they play in making the
world a better, loving place for all humanity. Our spiritual nature
has been over powered by greed and the compelling desire to be
better than others. Now is the time to redefine our identities by
boldly demonstrating the aspiration to suppress our uncontrolled
egotisms. The world, whether it is our personal world or the many
that surround us daily, is drifting along with many unpleasant
faces, because people, the most prized commodity on the planet is
still searching for a remedy to coexist peacefully. The author has
illustrated repeatedly the importance of the inner spirit to
counter the negative influence that has become common knowledge in
solving our problems.
