Soon to be a major series for Amazon Prime... You've never met
anyone like her . . . Antonia Scott is special. Very special. She
is not a policewoman or a lawyer. She has never wielded a weapon or
carried a badge, and yet, she has solved dozens of crimes. But it's
been awhile since Antonia left her attic in Madrid. The things she
has lost are much more important to her than the things awaiting
her outside. She also doesn't receive visitors. That's why she
really, really doesn't like it when she hears unknown footsteps
coming up the stairs. Whoever it is, Antonia is sure that they are
coming to look for her. And she likes that even less. Juan
Gomez-Jurado's internationally bestselling thriller series has sold
more than two million copies to date in Spain alone. Translated by
Nick Caistor.

The highly anticipated sequel to Juan Gómez-Jurado's number 1
international bestseller, Red Queen, now an original series streaming
on Amazon Prime.
Antonia Scott is the lynchpin of the Red Queen project, created to work
behind the scenes to solve the most dark, devious and dangerous crimes.
In southern Spain, in the Costa del Sol, a key mafia figure is found
brutally murdered in his villa, his pregnant wife, Lola Moreno, barely
escapes an attempt to kill her and is on the run. An unusual shipping
container arrives from St Petersburg in Spain with the corpses of nine
women.
Now Antonia, with the help of her protector, Jon Gutierrez, must track
down the missing Lola. But they aren’t the only ones – a dangerous
hitman, known as the Black Wolf, is also on her trail. And Antonia
Scott, still plagued by her personal demons, must outwit,
out-manoeuvre, and, ultimately, face this terrible, mysterious killer.
Translated by Nick Caistor and Lorenza Garcia, Black Wolf follows on
from Red Queen and features Antonia Scott, the most compelling and
original detective since Lisbeth Salander.
A collection of short essays and stories, Defending Latina/o
Immigrant Communities: The Xenophobic Era of Trump and Beyond
focuses on one of the most vilified, demonized, and scapegoated
groups in the United States: Latina/o immigrants. Using his
rigorous academic training, public policy knowledge, and community
activist background, as well as his personal and familial
experiences as the son of Mexican immigrants, Alvaro Huerta defends
and humanizes los de abajo / those on the bottom. He skillfully
re-frames how Latina/o immigrants should be viewed as productive
and important members in this country, debunking the xenophobic
tropes, lies, and myths about Latina/o immigrants as criminals,
social burdens, and national security threats. Accompanied by the
brilliant art of an internationally acclaimed artist, Salomon
Huerta, and powerful photos of two established photographers, this
book also investigates intersectional issues related to race,
class, place, and state violence.
This book provides a new approach to the control of food
transformation processes, emphasizing the advantage of considering
the system as a multivariable one, and taking a holistic approach
to the decision-making process in the plant, considering not only
the technical but also the economic implications of these
decisions. In addition, it presents a hierarchical structure for
the global control of the plant, and includes appropriate
techniques for each of the control layers. The book addresses the
challenges of modeling food transformation processes, using both
traditional system-identification techniques and, where these prove
impractical, models based on expert knowledge and using fuzzy
systems. The construction of optimal controllers for each of these
types of models is also discussed, as a means to close a feedback
loop on the higher-level outputs of the process. Finally, the
problem of production planning is covered from two standpoints: the
traditional batch-sizing problem, and the planning of production
throughout the season. Systematic season-wide production planning
is built upon the models constructed for the control of the plant,
and incorporates market- and business-specific information.
Examples based on the processing of various foodstuffs help to
illustrate the text throughout, while the book's closing chapter
presents a case study on advances in the processing of olive oil.
Given its scope, the book will primarily be of interest to two
groups of readers: food engineering practitioners and students, who
are familiar with the characteristics of food processes but have
little or no background in control engineering; and control
engineering researchers, students and practitioners, whose
situation is just the opposite, and who wish to learn more about
food engineering and its specific challenges for control. Advances
in Industrial Control reports and encourages the transfer of
technology in control engineering. The rapid development of control
technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline.
The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an
extended exposition of new work in all aspects of industrial
control.
This political history of Mexican Americans analyses and interprets
the last fifty years in the movimiento. Written by a leading
Chicano historian who spent many years as an activist, this study
evolved from Juan Gomez-Quinones's participation and reflection.
Examined are the leaders and organisations that waged struggles for
political rights as well as the evolution of their goals and
strategies. Beginning in the 1940s, Mexican Americans viewed the
advocacy process in party politics coupled with the selected use of
the courts as effective means to redress problems. But by the
mid--1960s, the persistence of discrimination, inequality and
poverty led many to question the so-called gains made through
piecemeal reform. A new style of politics, based on wide
mobilisation and an insistence upon democratic rights, coalesced
into an ethnic populism known as the Chicano Movement.
One major challenge facing modern medicine is to fulfill the
promise and potential of the enormous increase in medical data sets
of all kinds. Medical Applications of Intelligent Data Analysis:
Research Advancements explores the potential of utilizing this
medical data through the implementation of developed models in
practical applications. This premier reference source features
chapters contributed by specialists in a variety of intelligent
data analysis (IDA) fields related to medicine, health, and
bioinformatics. All of these contributions are devoted to
describing the practical medical applications of IDA and how the
theory described in many other books can be implemented to improve
medical care.
