The objective of Real Estate Education Throughout The World: Past, Present and Future is to document the current status and perspectives of real estate education and the underlying research throughout the world. The intent is to inform students, academics and practitioners about the situation in the widest possible range of countries and to provide a foundation for the future of the real estate discipline. The structure of this monograph follows the organisation of the world-wide network of real estate societies. In Part 1, Stephen E. Roulac sets the framework for the other contributions. Part 2 contains 20 chapters that examine real estate education in Europe. Part 3 consists of two articles covering North America. Part 4 includes two chapters dealing with Latin America. In Part 5, 8 countries in Asia are examined. Part 6 contains two chapters covering the Pacific Rim. Finally, Part 7 focuses on Africa. This collection of papers is unique, in the sense that 50 authors have contributed to the monograph and 37 countries or regions in total are covered. The editor does not know of any comparable book.

Im Mittelpunkt des vierten Bands der Reihe steht die Verknupfung der beiden Disziplinen Volkswirtschaftslehre und Immobilienokonomie. Bis heute sind viele Fragestellungen an dieser Schnittstelle nur unzureichend beleuchtet worden. Diese Lucke wird nun durch das Werk, Immobilienokonomie Band IV Volkswirtschaftliche Grundlagen, geschlossen, an dessen Entstehung eine Vielzahl namhafter Autoren aus Wissenschaft und Praxis beteiligt waren."

Vorwort zur zweiten Auflage Der rasche Verkauf der ersten Auflage konnte darauf hindeuten, da "das Buch beim Leser angekommen ist" und daher kein Anla besteht, wesentliche Anderungen an Aufbau und Inhalt des ursprtinglichen Textes vorzunehmen. Die notorische Unzufriedenheit des Autors mit dem, was er einmal publiziert hat, machte dennoch Berichtigungen, Erweiterungen, Ktirzungen und Um- strukturierungen unumganglich. So wurde der Abschnitt tiber den KalkulationszinsfuS aus dem zweiten in das dritte Kapitel transferiert und neu geschrieben. Bei der Endvermogens- und Entnahmekonzeption erfolgte eine starkere theoretische Fundierung, die mit einer ausftihrlicheren Darstellung Hand in Hand ging. Obgleich der Autor mehr dennje der Oberzeugung ist, da die "klassischen Methoden" der Wirt- schaftlichkeitsrechnung jenen Kriterien unterlegen sind, wurden - der Kon- vention widerwillig folgend, aber auch urn dem Leser diese Meinung nahezu- bringen - die Abschnitte tiber den Kapitalwert, die Annuitat und den inter- nen Zinsfu im dritten und vierten Kapitel nicht gestrichen, sondern "nur" tiberarbeitet. Die Kapitel 5 bis 8 blieben - bis auf die Einarbeitung neuerer Literatu- im wesentlichen unverandert, wasjedoch nicht bedeutet, da der Autor mit dem letzten Tell des Buches vollig zufrieden ist; vielmehr setzten eine Zeit- restriktion sowie die wiederholten Hinweise meiner Frau auf den ersten Satz dieses Vorwortes dem Oberarbeitungsdrang ein Ende.
