Pro Football and the Proliferation of Protest: Anthem Kneeling and
Standing in a Divided America examines the take-a-knee NFL
protests, a trend that has led to deep political divisiveness in
America. The author explores this phenomenon by incorporating
analysis of media coverage, impact on attitudes and behaviors, and
racial, religious, gendered, and political perspectives. The
analysis allows readers to recognize both positive and negative
prejudice and to proscribe possible solutions for political
divisiveness. Protesting, anthems, ceremonies, and media coverage
all demonstrate that this issue is a communication issue. This book
examines the voices on both sides of the kneeling controversy in
order to uncover the points at which one side is communicating and
the other side refuses to listen. The studies in this volume look
at the protest through four lenses: historically, through media
coverage , through impact on public behaviors and attitudes, and
from racial, religious, gendered, and political identification
perspectives. The contributors worked in conjunction with one
another, incorporating different viewpoints into each chapter as
they were completed. All studies were conducted under the guidance
of the book’s editor to separate the work effectively and to end
in a set of voices that complement each other and allow for overall
conclusions and recommendations. This book is useful for a wide
range of scholars including race, religion, political studies,
gender studies, and communication studies.
Essays exploring the potential of the Inquisitions post mortem to
shed important new light on the medieval world. The Inquisitions
post mortem (IPMs) are a truly wonderful source for many different
aspects of late medieval countryside and rural life. They have
recently been made digitally accessible and interrogatable by the
Mappingthe Medieval Countryside project, and the first fruits of
these developments are presented here. The chapters examine IPMs in
connection with the landscape and topography of England, in
particular markets and fairs and mills;and consider the utility of
proofs of age for everyday life on such topics as the Church,
retaining, and the wine trade. MICHAEL HICKS is Emeritus Professor
of Medieval History at the University of Winchester. Contributors:

A Texas oilman. A brilliant female archaeologist. An unknown world underneath the Vatican.
In 1939, a team of workers beneath the Vatican unearthed an early Christian grave. This surprising discovery launched a secret quest that would last decades — a quest to discover the long-lost burial place of the Apostle Peter.
From earliest times, Christian tradition held that Peter — a lowly fisherman from Galilee, whom Christ made leader of his Church — was executed in Rome by Emperor Nero and buried on Vatican Hill. But his tomb had been lost to history. Now, funded anonymously by a wealthy American, a small army of workers embarked on the dig of a lifetime.
The incredible, sometimes shocking, story of the 75-year search and its key players has never been fully told — until now. The quest would pit one of the 20th century’s most talented archaeologists — a woman — against top Vatican insiders. The Fisherman’s Tomb is a story of the triumph of faith and genius against all odds.
Grandma has run the town's garbage business, and her three sons
drive the trucks. But what happens when her sons are all too sick
to work-and it's the 4th of July, the day of the Big Parade? Leave
it to Grandma to get the town clean, with the help of her young
grandson, Billy, as she embarks on a hilarious romp through
town-and creates nearly as much mess as she cleans up.
A traitor. A future king. A doomed love story. Merry Stern has
never been a spy, but when she’s offered asylum in exchange for
her help uncovering remaining rebel bands, she accepts in hopes of
freeing her father. Working with the royals is no easy feat,
especially considering that Prince Gregory Hamilton considers her
untrustworthy and duplicitous. As she and the prince navigate their
uncomfortable relationship, Merry is introduced to questions she
did not know she possessed; questions of light and darkness, good
and evil. Princess Roanna is finally engaged to Prince Benjamin of
Lox, only the marriage seems stalled, and she cannot determine at
whose hand. The Dawsons won’t let her out of their sight,
Chester’s Wake is focusing all efforts on finding their lost
princess, and Lox refuses to acknowledge her position entirely.
Truth and lies are brought to light as those who seek to control
and destroy are finally uncovered in The Rebel Princess.
Avery Miles is ready to spread her wings and prove her worth on a
church mission trip to Iraq, but when their entourage gets blown
off course in a desert dust storm, the group is lost in an
inexplicable garden oasis. Along with the luscious fruits and
crystal springs, Avery and her friends find poisonous snakes,
deadly sink holes, and a group of natives that are almost
unearthly—but that's not their biggest problem. No matter which
way they trek, they can't seem to leave.
