This book presents advanced software development tools for construction, deployment and governance of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) applications. Novel technical concepts and paradigms, formulated during the research stage and during development of such tools are presented and illustrated by practical usage examples. Hence this book will be of interest not only to theoreticians but also to engineers who cope with real-life problems. Additionally, each chapter contains an overview of related work, enabling comparison of the proposed concepts with exiting solutions in various areas of the SOA development process. This makes the book interesting also for students and scientists who investigate similar issues.
Many of the changes occurring within medicine are being catalyzed by the proliferation of professional and social activity with the internet and mobile technology. Understanding of the way in which healthcare is being transformed by IT is key in the improvement of medical standards and reduction of cost. This book presents the current and future trends in the transformation of healthcare services in the Information Society Era. The synergy between computer technology and medical services has opened fascinating new possibilities for benefit in areas such as continuing care, chronic disease treatment and old people home monitoring, bringing with it the promise of essential changes in existing models of care delivery and system performance. This book addresses the priorities within international informatics and presents a complete and thorough survey of the most promising e-health technologies. This is illustrated with the inclusion of case reports indentifying real applications of the techniques, with the focus on providing an integrated overview of e-health, and the medical, sociological and technical aspects. The authorsa (TM) primary objective has been to provide an in-depth study of internet-enhanced healthcare services, while mobile technology is also reviewed in the context of modern wireless technologies. The authors have provided a unique analysis of the evolution of healthcare services. The book is illustrated by numerous examples and comes together to provide a valuable set of tele-care solutions available to modern informatics practice.
Millennium School is the first book by Krzysztof Zielinski one of the most interesting photographers of the young generation of Polish photographers. The photographs focus on the primary school which he attended as a child in the small Polish town of Wabrzezno. The school itself, Primary School no 3, was built in 1962 as a part of a major government development masterplan - - 'A thousand schools for the thousand years of the Polish state'. This is why these schools were called 'millennium memorial schools'. Essentially a propaganda plan, the new schools were presented as a gift from the Communist party to the nation, even though the post-war demographic boom meant that they were a necessity. Built around standard layouts, usually two or three storeys and constructed from prefabricated concrete, they were designed to be adaptable for military purposes with many having underground shelters and capable of being converted into temporary hospitals. Compared with the standards of the 60s, the schools were modern and well-equipped, and being a student at one was regarded as a sort of distinction. Today, the splendour of millennium schools is long forgotten. Physically, little has changed over the past twenty years, the furniture and equipment are the same, though as if to hide the passage of time and their modest and now outdated facilities, the classrooms have been painted in vivid colours.
The book contains the proceedings of The Warsaw Colloquium on Instrumental Conditioning and Brain Research held in Jablonna near Warsaw on May 1-5, 1979. The proceedings are also published in the sixth issue of 1979 and the first issue of 1980 of Acta Neurobiologiae Experimentalis. Three papers published later, in the fourth issue of 1980, are also included. The aim of this Symposium was to honour the memory of the great Polish neurophysiologist Jerzy Konorski and the sixtieth anniversary of the Nencki Institute, where Professor Konorski has created his school. Forty-five papers, prepared mainly by Konorski's pupils and scientific friends, cover several fields of current brain research. To each of them Professor Konorski contributed significantly. In fact, many presented papers have been strongly influenced by his scientific ideas. Perhaps the most conspicuous feature of the Symposium was its very international character due to numerous participants from both East and West. As such, the Symposium is a worthy symbol of the aehievements of both Jerzy Konorski himself and the Neneki Institute as a whole in the field of cooperation of scientists from East and West. Scientific sessions were held in the mornings and afternoons. In the evenings the participants mutually read and commented their papers. Moreover, colleagues from the USA and Great Britain eorrected the English of the manuscripts. In partieular Prof. J. F. Brennan, Prof.
This book contains 13 chapters in which you can find various examples of the development of methods and/or systems supporting medical diagnostics and therapy, related to biomedical imaging, signal and image processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and artificial organs, modeling of biomedical systems, which, as the current research issues, were presented at the 22nd Polish BBE Conference held at the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences, in May 2021. Obviously, it is not easy to recommend an interdisciplinary book as it may seem inconsistent in some respects. This is the case here because it concerns the area of biocybernetics and biomedical engineering (BBE), which is not only an interdisciplinary but even multidisciplinary science. On the other hand, the scattered subject matter of the book is its advantage, as the book may be of interest to an advanced and wide range of readers and researchers representing both medical, biological and technical points of view.
