A tribute to Earl Bertram who was a Champion Heavy Weight in the
Navy. He was a police officer for JCPD in Louisville, KY and in
1963 was involved in an accident that changed many lives. From the
book we read this.... "WELL, I DON'T LOVE YOU " Those were the
words that would haunt me for almost two decades of my life. Earl
Bertram was my Father, my Daddy, my Dad. As a child, Earl's Father
had been sent to prison for killing a man. At the age of 17, Earl
joined the Navy and was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington,
DC. Earl represented the Navy in boxing and was undefeated with a
12-0 record. Earl was an officer for the Jefferson County Police
Department in Louisville, KY. The year was 1963 and on a foggy,
rainy morning, Earl and his partner were on Dixie Highway speeding
to robbery call. Two Ft Knox soldiers, from the Army Base just
south of Louisville, would not see the speeding police car because
of the poor visibility that early morning. Many lives were about to
change......
