Alex has literally been born-again. He survived seven gunshots in a hail of bullets that claimed the life of his former street boss and Uncle, drug dealer Antwan Billows. Recognizing the purpose breathed into him by his mother on her death bed, Alex has overcome an addiction to drugs, alcohol, and women to raise his daughter and become youth pastor at Faith Tabernacle. With five years of clean living under his belt, it appeared that God was formulating the plan He had for Alex when with one fateful phone call he heard the voice of the woman he expected to marry. Only God could have orchestrated the circumstances of their meeting and the pain it would cause his family. Determined, the obstacles served to nourish the intended couple's faith. At the same time the youth ministry was growing under Alex's leadership and Alex's relationship with God was growing even stronger. As the enemy would have it, as soon as Alex began trusting in God, his picture perfect purpose began to get blurred by temptation. Nightmares began to haunt him and old habits unfurled like smoke from his lips. Hurt, resentment and despair started to replace faith, reverence and prayer. Although Alex preached to the masses about holding on in times of trouble, it seemed he was having difficulty finding joy in the midst of his pain. Will God reach Alex before it's too late? More importantly does Alex want to hear from God at all? The young minister has grown impatient waiting for answers from God. He needs to take a deep breath and believe that the promises for his life will happen, but only in God's time.
Renee saw him falling right in front of her...hard to the ground from several loud blasts of a gun. Who had shot him? Why wasn't he moving? Why should she care, it was all just in a days work for her, and this was a nobody, right? The bling'd out brotha was probably just another thug, criminal drug dealer. Only Renee knew the truth, that this was her son. Nothing in her bible could have ever prepared her for this gruesome scene, and as a news writer for a local Baltimore television station, she'd seen her share of death and destruction. But why him, why now? Why when she'd just put her complete and total trust in her God who was a healer, a way maker, a protector? She used to be somebody's perfect wife, and perfect mother, with perfect children that led what she perceived as a perfect life. To make matters worse, this horrific event is just a small leak in the dam that is about to break around her. Her world is literally crumbling apart. How can she be expected to hold fast to her faith when her present was in turmoil and her past was determined to destroy her future?
