Advances in Dynamic Games - Applications to Economics, Management Science, Engineering, and Environmental Management... Advances in Dynamic Games - Applications to Economics, Management Science, Engineering, and Environmental Management (Hardcover, 2006 ed.)
Alain Haurie, Shigeo Muto, Leon A. Petrosjan, T.E.S. Raghavan
R3,045 Discovery Miles 30 450 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The paradigms of dynamic games play an important role in the development of multi-agent models in engineering, economics, and management science. The applicability of their concepts stems from the ability to encompass situations with uncertainty, incomplete information, fluctuating coalition structure, and coupled constraints imposed on the strategies of all the players. This book - an outgrowth of the 10th International Symposium on Dynamic Games - presents current developments of the theory of dynamic games and its applications to various domains, in particular energy-environment economics and management sciences. The volume uses dynamic game models of various sorts to approach and solve several problems pertaining to pursuit-evasion, marketing, finance, climate and environmental economics, resource exploitation, as well as auditing and tax evasions. In addition, it includes some chapters on cooperative games, which are increasingly drawing dynamic approaches to their classical solutions. dynamic game theory and its applications for researchers, practitioners, and graduate students in applied mathematics, engineering, economics, as well as environmental and management sciences.

Cooperative Stochastic Differential Games (Hardcover, 2006 ed.): David W.K. Yeung, Leon A. Petrosjan Cooperative Stochastic Differential Games (Hardcover, 2006 ed.)
David W.K. Yeung, Leon A. Petrosjan
R2,935 Discovery Miles 29 350 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Stochastic differential games represent one of the most complex forms of decision making under uncertainty. In particular, interactions between strategic behaviors, dynamic evolution and stochastic elements have to be considered simultaneously. The complexity of stochastic differential games generally leads to great difficulties in the derivation of solutions. Cooperative games hold out the promise of more socially optimal and group efficient solutions to problems involving strategic actions. Despite urgent calls for national and international cooperation, the absence of formal solutions has precluded rigorous analysis of this problem.

The book supplies effective tools for rigorous study of cooperative stochastic differential games. In particular, a generalized theorem for the derivation of analytically tractable "payoff distribution procedure" of subgame consistent solution is presented. Being capable of deriving analytical tractable solutions, the work is not only theoretically interesting but would enable the hitherto intractable problems in cooperative stochastic differential games to be fruitfully explored.

Currently, this book is the first ever volume devoted to cooperative stochastic differential games. It aims to provide its readers an effective tool to analyze cooperative arrangements of conflict situations with uncertainty over time. Cooperative game theory has succeeded in offering many applications of game theory in operations research, management, economics, politics and other disciplines. The extension of these applications to a dynamic environment with stochastic elements should be fruitful. The book will be of interest to game theorists, mathematicians, economists, policy-makers, corporate planners and graduate students.

ICM Millennium Lectures on Games (Hardcover, 2003 ed.): Leon A. Petrosjan, David W.K. Yeung ICM Millennium Lectures on Games (Hardcover, 2003 ed.)
Leon A. Petrosjan, David W.K. Yeung
R2,859 Discovery Miles 28 590 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume gathers together 26 selected papers from the International Congress of Mathematicians' 1st Satellite Conference on Game Theory and its Applications (2002). It contains four sections: Foundations, Concepts, and Structure; Equilibrium Properties; Applications to the Natural and Social Sciences; Computational Aspects of Games. The first section explores fundamental ideas, leading to new and analytically interesting analysis of current problems, new games and new modeling approaches. Papers in the second section discuss issues in the solution of games, and present a number of potentially fruitful ideas regarding game equilibrium. The third and fourth sections are devoted to applications to the natural and social sciences and to computation. The articles on market structure and game-based computations would be of particular interest to researchers and practitioners.

Since the first Congress in Zurich in 1897, the ICM has been an eagerly awaited event every four years. Many of these occasions are celebrated for historie developments and seminal contributions to mathematics. 2002 marks the year of the 24th ICM, the first of the new millennium. Also historie is the first ICM Satellite Conference devoted to game theory and applications. It is one of those rare occasions, in which masters of the field are able to meet under congenial surroundings to talk and share their gathered wisdom. As is usually the case in ICM meetings, participants of the ICM Satellite Conference on Game Theory and Applications (Qingdao, August 2(02) hailed from the four corners of the world. In addition to presentations of high qual ity research, the program also included twelve invited plenary sessions with distinguished speakers. This volume, which gathers together selected papers read at the conference, is divided into four sections: (I) Foundations, Concepts, and Structure. (II) Equilibrium Properties. (III) Applications to the Natural and Social Sciences. (IV) Computational Aspects of Games."
