Als besondere Eigenschaften verlangt man vo diesen Werkstoffen einen moeglichst hohen Reibwert und groesste Temperatur- bestandigkeit. Zurzeit der Aufgabestellung 1955 wurden in Deutschland vornehmlich Reibwerkstoffe verwendet, die auf organischen Grundstoffen basierten. Man unterscheidet gepresste und gewebte Belage. Bei den ersteren werden Asbest- und Kunstfasern mit Kautschuk vermischt und zu Formstucken ver- presst. Bei den letzteren werden Gewebe mit zum Teil eingewebten Metall- seelen zu Formstucken gestanzt, diese mit Kautschuk, Kunstharz und Reib- stoffen gefullt, in Formen gepresst und durch Erhitzen ausgehartet.
