WEAVING WITH SMALL APPLIANCES. BOOK II- TABLET WEAVING. The art of
tablet weaving is pre-historic, and has been practised generally
all over the world throughout history. Many kinds of beautiful
braids and narrow webs are still woven by this simple method in
remote places where the primitive traditional arts and crafts still
survive. The authors interest in this subject was further
stimulated by seeing a tapestry in the V&A Museum in 1921 of
which the central figure, the Virgin Mary, is depicted weaving an
elaborate lace on a tablet loom. After much studing of the
technique and the capacity of the little appliance the author
presents the outcome of the experiments clearly in this books

earliest books on weaving, textiles and needlework, particularly
those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce
and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works
in affordable, high quality, modern edit

student of ornamental weaving with a loom on which a great range of
designs can be worked out with the least amount of tedious
alteration of the mounting and mechanism. A description of the
essential parts of the loom, the method of fitting it up, the
appliances for preparing the warps as well as entering them in the
loom and setting to work, as well as typical designs and
specifications are all contained in the chapters of this book. Many
of the earliest books on weaving, textiles and needlework,
particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now
