The thirty papers in this 1986 volume review the scientific knowledge of the nature of flint and chert at this time. These papers were presented at a 1983 interdisciplinary and international conference on flint and other cherts. Each contribution has been meticulously assessed and edited prior to publication. This collection is principally concerned with the geology and geochemistry of flint in European chert. Topics include the origin of flint; scanning electron microscopy of surface textures; and the behaviour of flint under periglacial conditions. There is a companion volume, edited by G. de G. Sieveking and M. B. Hart, on the archaeological uses of flint.
Guinevere Rhoslyn is a genius, a thief, and only fourteen years old. With her bodyguard, Alfonse, she has planned and excecuted almost forty heists of various renaissance and romance period paintings. But when she discovers an ancient scroll written in a language that can only be described as magical, her world is turned upside- down. She is captured by the megalomaniac sprite Lievek in hopes that she would be the portal to unleashing the most feared beast in any world- the Gryph. Guinevere has less than a week to thwart Lievek's plan of destruction, and she is the one that needs to be saved.
Devon shows perhaps one of the most varied displays of geology in the British Isles. Intended for anyone with an interest in geology, The Geology of Devon covers the geological development of the county and adjacent areas from Devonian times to the present day. Each appropriate chapter has a list of representative localities so that the book can also serve as an excursion guide for field work.
