These are professional-level comedy monologs, but they can be easily performed by talented high school actors. Most all of the characterizations can be effectively performed by either sex. The emphasis is on comedy and social satire. Nothing is sacred, yet all monologs are within the boundaries of good taste. In most instances the monologist is making fun of his/her own dilemmas of everyday living. Good contest material. Excellent for classroom use. Each monolog is three to five minutes long. Some of the monologs: History of New York City, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, The Fanatical Spectator, Trains of Nightmarish Thoughts, Letter to an Escaper, Musical Intros. What Does Your Handwriting Tell You? Mr. Know-It-All.
What is the long-term nature of American foreign policy? This new book refutes the claim that it has varied considerably across time and space, arguing that key policies have been remarkably stable over the last hundred years, not in terms of ends but of means. Closely examining US foreign policy, past and present, David Sylvan and Stephen Majeski draw on a wealth of historical and contemporary cases to show how the US has had a 'client state' empire for at least a century. They clearly illustrate how much of American policy revolves around acquiring clients, maintaining clients and engaging in hostile policies against enemies deemed to threaten them, representing a peculiarly American form of imperialism. They also reveal how clientilism informs apparently disparate activities in different geographical regions and operates via a specific range of policy instruments, showing predictable variation in the use of these instruments. With a broad range of cases from US policy in the Caribbean and Central America after the Spanish-American War, to the origins of the Marshall Plan and NATO, to economic bailouts and covert operations, and to military interventions in South Vietnam, Kosovo and Iraq, this important book will be of great interest to students and researchers of US foreign policy, security studies, history and international relations. This book has a dedicated website at: www.us-foreign-policy-prespective.org featuring additional case studies and data sets.

Telly the Kelly Green Tiger is a delightful children's story about a cute but bashful little tiger that has the misfortune to be born bright kelly green. This dilemma soon proved to be a frustrating situation as Telly struggled with acceptance in the jungle. As Telly tried to be a part of the animal kingdom he found himself ridiculed, rejected and humiliated by the other animals around him. Monkey's screamed and threw coconuts at him, the elephants raised their trunks and drenched him with water. This was too much for the small tiger to endure, so Telly fled and hid his bright green fur behind the refuge of large green jungle leaves. Lonely and sad, Telly declared- "If only I wasn't so green they wouldn't be mean " The tables would soon be turned however as hunters came to capture animals for resale and Telly's greenness becomes an asset. The story of Telly teaches children the uniqueness of themselves as individuals as they see Telly turn a negative to a positive, and in the end we hear Telly proclaim-: It's great to be green if you know what I mean "
