Family comedy. High school student Melanie Porter (Raven-Symone) has always come top of the class, and now looks forward to choosing the perfect college to turn her dreams of becoming a high-flying lawyer into reality. She comes up with the idea of taking to the road in order to visit all the potential colleges on her list - but what she hasn't bargained for on this trip of a lifetime is the company of her over-protective police chief father, James (Martin Lawrence), who is far from ready to let his precious daughter loose upon the world.
