The PRoject for OnBoard Autonomy (PROBA) missions are a series of
microsatellites launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) and
intended to provide an in-orbit test platform for new technologies.
The second satellite in the series, PROBA2, was launched on
November 2, 2009. The primary mission goal of PROBA2 is to perform
an in-flight demonstration of a series of new spacecraft
technologies. The secondary mission goal is the exploitation of the
payload of scientific instruments consisting of two Sun-sensing
instruments, the Sun Watcher with Active Pixel Sensor and Image
Processing, and the Large Yield Radiometer. Both instruments are
unique in a technological sense but also provide unique scientific
data for the solar physics community. In this volume, a number of
papers are collected that give an overview of the mission, the
spacecraft, its instrument and its operations. In addition, the
scientific outcome of the mission during the first two years is
presented in a series of research papers. This volume is aimed at
graduate students and researchers active in solar physics and space
science. Previously published in Solar Physics journal, Vol. 286,
No. 1, 2013.
The migration of stem cells has been found to be critical during
early development for the organization of the embryonic body as
well as during adult life with tissue homeostasis and regeneration
of organ function. Due to the low frequency of these cells in vivo,
problems in identifying and prospectively purifying tissue specific
stem cells near homogeneity, and, most importantly, a lack of
adequate technologies and protocols to study stem cell migration in
vivo, this vital research has been quite difficult until recently.
In "Stem Cell Migration: Methods and Protocols," experts in the
field compile and highlight the standard and novel techniques that
allow the studying of the migration of stem cells in one succinct
manual. Including protocols on germ, neuronal, and hematopoietic
stem cells, during development and adulthood with a clear emphasis
on in vivo technologies, the volume also extends its coverage to in
vitro approaches toward several developmentally-conserved signaling
pathways. Written in the highly successful "Methods in Molecular
Biology " series format, chapters include introductions to their
respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents,
step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips
on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.
Practical and convenient, "Stem Cell Migration: Methods and
Protocols" provides key, state-of the art information on
experimental techniques for studying stem cell migration both at a
cellular and molecular level in development, regeneration, and
disease.

Hungarian-born French artist Nicolas Schoeffer (1912-1992), though
relatively unknown today, was during his lifetime a significant
presence in the art world. His 1956 piece CYSP 1 is considered the
first cybernetic sculpture, making use of motors, microphones, and
photo-electric cells to create a work based on feedback loops and
responsiveness to its environment. For Schoeffer, cybernetics
enabled a crucial artistic exploration of the boundary between the
living and the technological. This important reevaluation of
Schoeffer's work features sculptures, paintings, and drawings,
including unpublished pieces from the artist's studio and archive,
as well as documentation of his interdisciplinary and experimental
collaborations with architects, musicians, choreographers,
scientists, and industrialists. Particular attention is paid to the
innovative work he created between 1945 and 1975, which takes on
particular resonance in our current, digitally saturated world.

Chenu was a French Dominican friar, a renowned historian, and a
theologian with extraordinary creative insight. He shaped the
Dominican study center, Le Saulchoir, as its director and as an
influential professor from the late 1920s until he was removed by
the Vatican in 1942 (for writing a theological program for the
school that sounded much like the future Pastoral Constitution on
the Church in the Modern World). He influenced two generations of
scholars with his rare combination of scientific excellence and
pastoral wisdom. Fifty years after Vatican II, historians are still
discovering documents and letters that offer important insights
into the Council's meaning. This brief journal written by
Marie-Dominique Chenu, masterfully edited by Alberto Melloni, is
such a document. It reveals the decisive role Chenu played in
several initiatives that shaped the Council's character; but, more
importantly, it brings to light the dynamic networking of bishops
and theologians that lay behind the Council's achievement of so
much in so few years. Covering the years 1962-1963, Chenu's
Notebook allows readers to feel the drama of the Council's opening
period. At the Council, he promoted and drafted its great Message
to the World that was the Council's first published statement. In
it, many of Chenu's key intuitions became part of an official
church statement about its hope for the future: attention to the
'signs of the times', the integration of science and technology
into the Church's pastoral message, and commitment to justice and
the care of the poor. His Vatican II Notebook is an exciting peek
into great moments in a great man's life.

It is by means of worship that man recognizes his absolute
dependence upon God, comes into His presence, and gains practical
knowledge of His goodness and sovereign majesty.
Father Marie-Dominique Philippe, founder of the Congregation of
St. John and one of the twentieth century s most profound
theological and pastoral minds, takes us back to the First
Commandment, back to the primacy of worship, in You Shall Worship
One God. For only by recognizing the singular importance of
worship, of making ourselves an offering of love before God, can we
hope to fulfill the other commandments and develop a deep and
lasting spiritual life.
Divine revelation, says Father Philippe, presents true worship to
us in the form of sacrifice. The Old Testament stories in which
goods and lives are offered to God, and the holocausts and
oblations of the Jewish Temple, train God s people to express their
love and fidelity and penitence through sacrifice. In so doing they
also prefigure and prepare us for the Passion of Our Lord on
Calvary, the perfect and lasting sacrifice that completes and gives
meaning to all the others. Christ s offering of Himself is at root
a sacrifice of filial worship, glorifying the Father in the truest
way possible and thereby effecting the greatest spiritual fruits.
You Shall Worship One God is a fascinating study of the
development of sacrificial worship throughout salvation history, a
rich meditation on the mystery of the Cross, and a necessary
reminder to our busy world that the heart of Christianity is found
not in service to our fellow man, but in recognizing the Lord s
supreme majesty before all. Such worship is essential to salvation,
says Father Philippe, for it makes us die to ourselves in order to
proclaim that God is first.

In "Aquinas and His Role in Theology," Marie Dominique Chenu
provides a lively and representative overview of the life and
writings of the thirteenth-century theologian whom many consider to
be the greatest master of Catholic religious thought.
A rich explanation of the prolific and versatile books of
Aquinas follows the story of his life's journey through the heart
of Europe in the high Middle Ages. Chenu also portrays the
religious and spiritual personality of Aquinas, showing how his
typically systematic theology is rooted in personal contemplative
roots and a passion for pastoral preaching.
Chapters are The Friar Preacher," *Master in Sacred Theology, -
*The Contemplative, - *The Herald of a New Christianity, - *"Imago
Mundi, " - *The Virtuous Life, - *The Fate of St. Thomas, - and
*The Works of St. Thomas. - Includes illustrations.
"Marie Dominique Chenu was a leader in applying historical
method to the study of Thomas Aquinas. He published widely in both
medieval and contemporary theology.
Paul Philibert, OP, STD, is the author of "Seeing and
Believing" and served as Translator for "Liturgy and the Arts,"
both published by The Liturgical Press. He is also Distinguished
Visiting Professor of Church and Society at the Aquinas Institute
of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri.""
