Five men who carved a life out of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Their
love for this land and the life they found showed courage,
perseverance, and fortitude. The Finnish of this land call it
"Sisu." These profiles show the determination of: a man who
followed his dream to start a butterfly house on Mackinac Island, a
man who ran a thriving mechanics business out of a run-down gas
station, a man who came home from Vietnam and escaped to the
northern woods as a successful logger, a man who developed a
reputable funeral business, and a pastor with a vision for the
people of upper Michigan.
This is the author's eighth book. It is a collection of

Economics / Small Business Everyone has a dream and for some that
means stepping into a business of their own. Dana explored the
possibilities of running his own scuba diving business but with the
high startup costs and no resources of his own the dream died a
premature death. That is until he realized he could take one step
today and make his dream reality. He never went into debt and
through bartering and his own creative flow built a thriving
business taking teams to the Great Barrier Reef, the Cayman
Islands, and more. Dana decided to share his journey with others
who have a dream of their own. This is his story.
Many of us have left behind the security of of home for something
better - out there. After wandering into darkened places there
comes a realization that we need a return to the heart of the
Father. These poems portray a period in my own life of wandering
away from the heart of God and my return. The poems also symbolize
the journey of millions of orphans who have lost their earthly
fathers, but are yet to return to their Heavenly Father.
In 1991 the walls of the Soviet Union began to crumble.
Regretfully, so did the family structure. Unemployment, alcoholism,
and abuse of kids increased. Kids were seen by the thousands on the
streets of Russia and Ukraine. Many began banding up with small
groups of kids and slept in sewers or abandoned buildings for days
or years at a time. They survived through scams, prostitution, and
begging. The police then began handing the kids over to poor
orphanages, kid jails, or holding centers. Most of our current
efforts are to help small ministries who go to the orphanages,
children's hospitals or these temporary holding centers. This book
is a series of short inspirational essays that tell the story of
one man's journey from a dark time of uncertainty to the heart of
the Father for children forgotten. You will discover how these
children, who are struggling in their own darkness, are finding a
bit of love and light from the heart of God.
