This book analyzes the role of laws and the judiciary in the
process of censorship in India. It examines the rationales and
observations produced by the judiciary when demands for censorship
are directed against publications that allegedly offend religious
sentiments. Focusing on a micro-level analysis of censorship of
publications, it presents a hard case to understand the limitations
of freedom of expression and the role played by the judiciary in
defining its boundaries. The volume traces the evolution of laws
governing freedom of expression since the colonial period and the
context in which these laws were amended after Independence. It
also explicates how the legal process - the structural and
functional aspects of working of judiciary - affects the fate of
freedom of expression in India. Employing comparative legal
analysis, it tries to understand and situate the Indian case within
the larger discourse of censorship and freedom of expression around
the world, thereby marking its similarities and differences. In
unravelling the politics of censorship, the author also examines
the interaction among different stakeholders like government,
non-state actors and the judiciary. A tract for our times, this
book will be of great interest to scholars and researchers of law,
especially constitutional law and fundamental rights, politics,
especially political theory and Indian politics, modern India and
South Asian studies.
Disruptive technologies are gaining importance in healthcare
systems and health informatics. By discussing computational
intelligence, IoT, blockchain, cloud and big data analytics, this
book provides support to researchers and other stakeholders
involved in designing intelligent systems used in healthcare, its
products, and its services. This book offers both theoretical and
practical application-based chapters and presents novel technical
studies on designing intelligent healthcare systems, products, and
services. It offers conceptual and visionary content comprising
hypothetical and speculative scenarios and will also include
recently developed disruptive holistic techniques in healthcare and
the monitoring of physiological data. Metaheuristic computational
intelligence-based algorithms for analysis, diagnosis, and
prevention of disease through disruptive technologies are also
provided. Designing Intelligent Healthcare Systems, Products, and
Services Using Disruptive Technologies and Health Informatics is
written for researchers, academicians, and professionals to bring
them up to speed on current research endeavours, as well as to
introduce hypothetical and speculative scenarios.
Unlike other muco-cutaneous lesions Oral lichen Planus(OLP) is
often chronic and rarely undergoes spontaneous remission which make
knowledge of the disease more important for oral physicians and
dental practitioners. The etiology is not known, but there are
several hypothesis involving genetic, infectious, psychogenic and
autoimmune factors. Pathogenesis of OLP has been extensively
studied but still the controversies surround the
disease.Understanding the nature and behavior of OLP is also
required in order to provide better treatment modalities. This book
is an attempt to unify the proposed hypothesis and make
understanding of the disease simple for not only oral physicians
but also for dental practitioners.
