This book addresses and disseminates state-of-the-art research and development in the applications of intelligent techniques for smart grids and renewable energy systems. This helps the readers to grasp the extensive point of view and the essence of the recent advances in this field. The book solicits contributions from active researchers which include theory, case studies and intelligent paradigms pertaining to the smart grid and renewable energy systems. The prospective audience would be researchers, professionals, practitioners and students from academia and industry who work in this field.
This book introduces the fundamental principles of understanding business requirements to apply enterprise resource planning (ERP) in order to meet business needs. The book also helps readers understand the usage of ERP for monitoring and controlling business processes, while providing practical oriented solutions to the design and implementation of ERP. Using the provided framework, a business can decide to provide more value at lower cost which increases its competitive advantage. This should be an ideal reference for executives, researchers and consultants in project management of ERP. ERP can be considered to be an integrated package of business process. The scope of ERP determines the extent of automation of business process. For example if ERP covers Human Resource (HR) and finance business processes only, then business process related HR and finance are automated. Typically business process that are automated in HR and finance employee entry and exist process, allocation of employee ID, payroll, processing , income tax planning and actual deduction etc. There is seamless flow of employee data and information is available at an effectively faster rate to take appropriate decision. As custom demand increases, there is a need to meet the changing scenario with speed and efficiency. While there is a need to increase productivity, there is also a need to reduce cost of operation. The repetitive business processes can be handled effectively by automating them and freeing human resources for meeting other uncertainties. These automations not only should be done for each department, but also should cut across different departments. Thus there is a need for automating business processes at enterprise level. This enterprise level automation started with MRP, then MRP II, ERP and then finally open source ERP have taken centre stage. Out of the standard products available in the market, an organization can chose an ERP product for implementation, depending on the features available and the total cost of ownership (TCO). This comparison helps an organization to choose the product that best suits the needs for the organization. Enterprise Resource Planning: Fundamentals of Design and Implementation highlights these concepts while discusses different good practices to design and implement ERP.
This reference textbooks discusses the low power designs for emerging applications. This book focuses on the research challenges associated with theory, design, and applications towards emerging Microelectronics and VLSI device design and developments, about low power consumptions. The advancements in large-scale integration technologies are principally responsible for the growth of the electronics industry. This book is focused for senior undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, nanotechnology, this book: • Discusses various low power techniques and applications for designing efficient circuits. • Covers advance nanodevices like FinFETs, TFETs, CNTFETs. • Covers various emerging area like Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata Circuits and FPGAs and sensors. • Discuss applications like memory design for low power applications using nanodevices. The number of options for ICs in control applications, telecommunications, high-performance computing, and consumer electronics continues to grow with the emergence of VLSI designs. Nanodevices have revolutionized the electronics market and human life; it has impacted individual life to make it more convenient. They are ruling every sector like electronics, energy, biomedicine, food, environment, and communication. The book will discuss various emerging low power applications using CMOS and other emerging nanodevices.
This book addresses and disseminates research and development in the applications of intelligent techniques for computer vision, the field that works on enabling computers to see, identify, and process images in the same way that human vision does, and then providing appropriate output. The book provides contributions which include theory, case studies, and intelligent techniques pertaining to computer vision applications. The book helps readers grasp the essence of the recent advances in this complex field. The audience includes researchers, professionals, practitioners, and students from academia and industry who work in this interdisciplinary field. The authors aim to inspire future research both from theoretical and practical viewpoints to spur further advances in the field.
This book looks at migration in contemporary society and its interrelations with development. It presents the complexities and dilemmas associated with migration, the changes in theoretical and historical perspectives on migration and development, and the role of policies and the sustainable development goals in this context. The volume views migration as a phenomenon for advancing human development outcomes. It deals with wide-ranging issues including labour migration, the idea of decent work, migration and transnationalism, remittances, social networks and capital, and addressing poverty. The chapters highlight the focus of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its relevance on migrant rights, safeguarding livelihoods and health. They also offer insights into regional and international co-operation on policies for migration, social growth and protection, and citizenship. With comparative analyses of data, trends and development indicators as well as various case studies, this volume examines the impact of migration on international relations and politics, labour market outcomes, gender, youth and education among others. It also discusses the loss of lives and livelihoods due to the Covid-19 pandemic, its impact on migration and the effects of the pandemic on the contemporary discussions on migration and SDGs. Rich in empirical data, this book will be an excellent read for scholars and researchers of migration and diaspora studies, development studies, refugee studies, public policy and governance, international relations, political studies, political economy, sociology and South Asian Studies.
