Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
This book offers a critical perspective of the dominant discourses
within the field of psychological trauma. It provides a challenge
to normative western constructs and unsettles assumptions about
accepted notions of universality and the nature of trauma.
Traditionally the concept of psychological trauma has been widely
accepted within mental health professions. However, in a
post-positivist era, the language of mental health is shifting and
making room for alternative discourses that include wider
contextual influences, such as the impact of sociological,
cultural, and technological developments. These wider discourses
are illuminated as the authors draw together some of these
arguments into one accessible text. Rather than claim definitive
answers to the issues raised, readers are invited to engage with
the discussions presented in order to position themselves in
relation to the range of trauma discourses available.
A celebration of men's voices in prayer through the ages from
many faiths, cultures and traditions.
"If men like us don t pray, where will emerging generations get
a window into the soul of a good man, an image of the kind of man
they can aspire to be or be with when they grow up? If men don t
pray, who will model for them the practices of soul care of
gratitude, confession, compassion, humility, petition, repentance,
grief, faith, hope and love? If men don t pray, what will men
become, and what will become of our world and our future?" from the
Introduction by Brian D. McLaren
This collection celebrates the profound variety of ways men
around the world have called out to the Divine with words of joy,
praise, gratitude, wonder, petition and even anger from the ancient
world up to our own day.
The prayers come from a broad spectrum of spiritual traditions
both East and West including Christianity, Judaism, Islam,
Hinduism, Buddhism and more. Together they provide an eloquent
expression of men s inner lives, and of the practical, mysterious,
painful and joyous endeavor that prayer is. Men Pray will challenge
your preconceived ideas about prayer. It will inspire you to
explore new ways of prayerful expression and new possibilities for
your own spiritual journey. This is a book to treasure and to
share.

When costly efforts to cement a strategic partnership with the
Soviet Union failed, the combined political pressure of economic
crisis at home and imminent external threats posed by a
Sino-Cambodian alliance compelled Hanoi to reverse course. Moving
away from the Marxist-Leninist ideology that had prevailed during
the last decade of the Cold War era, the Vietnamese government
implemented broad doi moi ("renovation") reforms intended to create
a peaceful regional environment for the country's integration into
the global economy. In contrast to earlier studies, Path traces the
moving target of these changing policy priorities, providing a
vital addition to existing scholarship on asymmetric wartime
decision-making and alliance formation among small states. The
result uncovers how this critical period had lasting implications
for the ways Vietnam continues to conduct itself on the global
stage.

Are we the world's good neighbor or a global bully? This timely
book provides us with an opportunity to pause and reflect on what
may be the most pressing issue of our day: What are America's
global responsibilities as the only remaining superpower? What
should we be doing with our resources, energy, talent, and
strength? What shouldn’t we be doing? "Those of us who live with
spiritual convictions, or who worship in religious communities,
sometimes have the opportunity to hear from the pulpit, from the
bima, in the prayer hall, in the zendo, or elsewhere what one
spiritual leader believes on these issues. This book is for those
of us who want a variety of opinions, for those of us who want to
understand the issues more deeply and make up our own minds."
—from the Introduction Spiritual Perspectives on America’s Role
as Superpower invites you to explore these essential questions with

debate centering on America’s place in the world: that of
spirituality. An invaluable resource for those wishing to better

introduction to the historical, moral, and theological aspects of
this controversial issue.

In this way, grief is a pathway to a more soul-centered life.“
―from the Introduction by Thomas Moore

Stalking has moved from being a novel area for study to become a
core area of concern for mental health professionals, lawyers and
other members of the criminal justice system. It has emerged as a
significant social problem which not only commands considerable
public attention but is now, in many jurisdictions, a specific form
of criminal offence. This new edition brings the reader completely
up-to-date with the explosion in published research and clinical
studies in the field, and covers new issues such as cyberstalking,
stalking health professionals, stalking in the workplace, female
stalkers, juvenile stalkers, stalking celebrities, evaluating risk
in the stalking situation, as well as exploring changes to the
legal status of the behaviour. Illustrated with case studies
throughout, this is the definitive guide and reference for anyone
with professional, academic or other interests in this complex
behaviour.
The members of the Web PATH Center, a pagan church and spiritual
community in Lyons, NY, wondered what would happen if they wrote a
book about sex. The book needed to be spiritual. It needed to be
sexy. It needed to be explicit. Sacred Sex and Magick is the
result. The group describes how ordinary ritual practices like
grounding and creating a cone of power involve sensuality and
rising kundalini energy. They explain how to use that power in
making magick happen. Then they share secrets of the Great Rite and
how to include the power of the sacred marriage at home. This book
is for people who want a spiritual path that involves the physical
ecstasy of sex and the dynamics of magick that works. Solitaries,
pagan partners and spouses, and people with spirit lovers will all
dance with the ecstasy found in this book.
