This book examines the interplay between the national and the
European levels in EU foreign policymaking, focusing on the Middle
East.
European engagement in peacemaking in the Middle East dates back
to foreign-policy cooperation in the early 1970s. Following the
launch of the peace process in 1991, the EU and its Member States
further stepped up their involvement in conflict resolution,
focusing on one central area of EU engagement the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This book covers the period from the
beginning of the peace process in 1991 until 2008, and focuses on
the actions of the big three Member States: Germany, France and the
UK.
Using the Europeanization concept as framework of analysis, the
book examines the problematic dynamics between these Member States
national foreign-policy models and the construction of a common
European conflict-resolution policy. It also provides interesting
new insights into the EU 's international role and potential,
addressing the often neglected question of how Europeanization
effects help to mitigate some of the classical limitations of
European foreign policymaking.
The book will be of great interest to students of EU policy,
Middle Eastern Politics, peace and conflict resolution, security
studies and IR.
This collection of essays studies the expression and diffusion of
radical ideas in Britain from the period of the English Revolution
in the mid-seventeenth century to the Romantic Revolution in the
early nineteenth century. The essays included in the volume explore
the modes of articulation and dissemination of radical ideas in the
period by focusing on actors ('radical voices') and a variety of
written texts and cultural practices ('radical ways'), ranging from
fiction, correspondence, pamphlets and newspapers to petitions
presented to Parliament and toasts raised in public. They analyse
the way these media interacted with their political, religious,
social and literary context. This volume provides an
interdisciplinary outlook on the study of early modern radicalism,

Interest in Shaftesbury is as lively and productive today as it
ever was. Indeed, the past decade has seen a veritable
international renaissance in studies of his work. The various
theoretical approaches of which modern critics and scholars can
avail themselves are reflected in the different new interpretations
we now have of Shaftesbury. This collection of essays manifests
this diversity, offering a representative miscellany which covers a
wide range of Shaftesbury's own intellectual interests. The focus

projecting its policies outward. Focusing on trade policy,
agriculture, food safety, competition, social rights, environmental
policy, transport, migration, nuclear non-proliferation, or
financial regulation, each chapter contributes to a better
understanding of the EU's role in shaping global policies, the
mechanisms it uses and the conditions leading to success or
failure. The contributors' comparative research highlights that
policy export is a demanding phenomenon that faces severe
limitations and frequently comes with drawbacks. Still, EU policy
export played a key role in shaping the rules of the global trade
regime and influenced global policy outcomes - at least to a minor
extent or in technical aspects - in the majority of the covered
policy areas. Overall however, this book reveals that the EU not
only aims to export its policies, but interacts with its global
environment in a number of distinct ways, including policy import
and policy protection, to shield it from global pressures.

Diese Arbeit beschaftigt sich mit der Frage, ob und inwieweit die
Vorstandsvergutung innerhalb einer faktisch abhangigen AG an der
wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung der Muttergesellschaft ausgerichtet
werden kann. Hierzu wird zunachst ein UEberblick uber die
verschiedenen praxisrelevanten Vergutungsmodelle verschafft.
Anschliessend wird das Spannungsverhaltnis zwischen den Regelungen
und Wertungen des allgemeinen Gesellschaftsrechts auf der einen
Seite und den spezifischen Regelungen und Wertungen des
Aktienkonzernrechts auf der anderen Seite aufgezeigt. Es wird

On the occasion of Hermann J. Real's seventy-fifth birthday, this
collection honours a scholar whose contagious curiosity has been
dedicated to the study of Jonathan Swift's life and works for the
past four decades. The contributions cover multiple aspects of the
Dean's writings as well as a number of eighteenth-century contexts.
They not only celebrate the Director of the Ehrenpreis Centre at
the Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitat, Munster, the Editor of the
annual Swift Studies, and the convener of six international Munster
symposia on the Dean of St Patrick's, but they also pay homage to
the mentor, colleague, and friend. At the same time, they reflect
the enduring vitality of Swift studies, which it has been one of
Hermann J. Real's greatest academic achievements to promote.

Seminar besuchte ich bereits im 1. Semester. Es scheint sich aber
gelohnt zu haben... 1,1 MB, Abstract: Nach Jahrhunderten von
Vorurteilen, Ignoranz und falschem Stolz gepragten Grabenkampfen
und offenen Schlagabtauschen scheinen Theologie und
Naturwissenschaft bereit fur einen gemeinsamen Dialog zu sein.
Diese Entwicklung zeugt von grosser Offenheit und dem Verschwinden
rein dogmatischen und ideologischen Denkens in beiden Bereichen.
Doch wo lasst sich ein solcher Dialog sinnvoll beginnen? Die
Antwort darauf ist so einfach wie die Frage selbst: am Beginn, am
Anfang des Ganzen, was wir Welt, Kosmos, All oder Schopfung nennen,
am Anfang des Seins selbst. Und genau hier sehen sich Theologie und
moderne Naturwissenschaft wieder in die Augen. Die einen, weil sie
trotz immenser Erkenntnisse und Fortschritte angesichts der
Unendlichkeit des Universums und der Endlichkeit der menschlichen
Natur ins Zweifeln geraten sind, auf alle anstehenden Fragen nach
der Struktur des Kosmos und des Lebens eine aus empirischer
Perspektive befriedigende Antwort finden zu konnen. Und die
anderen, weil sie erkennen mussten, dass Sturheit und Dogmatismus
den Blick fur das Wirkliche verfalschen und dass sie sich dem Geist
der Moderne nicht langer verschliessen konnen, ohne den Anspruch
auf geistige Heimat vieler Menschen zu verlieren. Nachdem der
Mensch erkannt hat, dass der Planet auf dem er lebt nicht im
Mittelpunkt des Universums steht, und dass die Sonne nur ein Stern
unter Abermilliarden Sternen Kosmos ist, wurde dem
anthropozentrischen Weltbild mit der Entwicklung der modernen
Evolutionstheorie wohl ein endgultiger Gnad"
