Violin Playtime Studies is a first anthology of established and newly-composed studies for the young violinist. Taking as its starting point the one octave scale of D major, and remaining in first position throughout, it may be used in conjunction with the violin Playtime series. This combination of short, purposeful studies enlivened by delightful illustrations will ensure that 'study time' is never dull!
With Violin Playtime, the beginner violinist can make music from
the very first lessons. In the three books that make up the series,
there are over a hundred little pieces, a treasure-trove of
attractive tunes - some traditional, some by composers of the past,
some newly composed.
Violin Study Time is an anthology of established and newly-composed studies which develops the young violinist's technique in several directions. It may be used in conjunction with the Young Violinist's Repertoire series. There are studies for various types of bowing such as detache' and spicatto, studies for finger action and basic shifts, and several studies which introduce third position. These studies will serve as an introduction to the great repertoire of violin studies, so that before long the young violinist will be tackling the works of Kreutzer, Rode and even Wienawski and Paganni!
Following on from the first three books in The Young Violinist's Repertoire series, this volume is for the player already familiar with first and third positions. It presents a broad range of European music from three centuries, including some beautiful but relatively unfamiliar pieces by Handel, Leopold Mozart and others. Priority has been given to melodic pieces demanding a sustained legato, so that players are introduced to the cantabile style, which so important to violin playing. The technical level in this book covers approximately grades 3-5.
The Young Violinist's Repertoire is an ideal introduction to the
established repertoire for the violin. Progressively arranged to
take the young player from the very early stages to intermediate
standard, the four books bring together music from all over Europe
and span a wide range of composers, periods and styles. The piano
accompaniments remain easy throughout.
