"Our identity is intensity," declares Liverpool FC assistant-coach Pep Lijnders in this compelling account of the 2021/22 season, and from the very first chapter he takes us on a thrilling football ride we will never forget. Pep is Jurgen Klopp's right-hand man. Returning to the LFC coaching staff in 2018, the highly-respected Dutchman has been key to everything the Reds have achieved since: a sixth European Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and of course a first Premier League title claimed with a record-breaking 99 points. And so much more besides. Liverpool's blistering brand of football has revived a sleeping giant, energised its vast army of fans, entertained crowds at home and all over the world, and redefined coaching excellence. Now Pep tells the inside story of a season which, even by LFC standards, has been truly sensational. Week by week as the drama unfolds it's all here: from pre-season to unforgettable finale; great goals and gruelling schedules; passionate team-talks and personal reflections; unsung heroes and Kop idols; the pride and the passion, the joy and the heartache...and the fun. In his own engaging and inspiring style, Pep takes readers behind-the-scenes at Anfield, the AXA Training Ground and the team hotel; on the pitch, in the dugout and back in the dressing-room away from the media glare. In creating a 'one-club' mentality, Lijnders, Klopp and co have also created countless modern memories for the LFC family, and this unique book chronicles their legacy.
First published in 1965. This book is of compelling interest to all concerned with the good management of industry. This report examines the attitudes of managers towards the problems that confront them. The attitude of managers can be divided in to two broad categories, described in the report as 'thrusting' and 'sleeping'. The research conducted in this report shows that the managements of 'thrusting' firms are characterized, first, by a determination to expand, secondly by a precise knowledge of the environment in which they operate and, thirdly, by the systematic use of techniques which enable them to make rational decisions. In order to find possible ways in which more firms might achieve a similar 'self-awareness' PEP staff had discussions with nearly 100 businessmen, senior civil servants, scientists and educationalists. As a result of these investigations PEP has formulated some suggestions as to how the gap between thrusters and sleepers might be narrowed to the benefit of the whole economy.
The Hellbangers are the "enfants terribles" of a sleepy, diamonds rich country. Photographer Pep Bonet (1974, Mallorca) has been following Overthrust, a heavy metal band from Botswana, Africa, and shows us a growing, exciting and thoroughly organic heavy metal community. Ten years ago, one group existed. Today there are more than ten - and their fans are growing every year. The inhabitants of Botswana portrayed in this book are tattooed, loudly and proudly dress in leather, and play heavy death metal music. Imagine the DIY ingenuity of their 'costume creation' involving harvested animal skulls and other natural elements. With names like Demon and Gunsmoke, it would be easy though to think they are thugs, but "We try to be examples. Rock is a wild thing, but also something for the heart", says Gunsmoke, the heavy metal head. Here too, the lyrics of the songs are very critical towards societies, just like their western peers. Metal in Botswana is rebellious movement against authorities. This is the story of what looks at first to be an unlikely union, yet one which powerfully illustrates how music, how heavy metal music, has become a positively unifying force in an unlikely part of the world. With text contributions written by Pep Bonet and Steffan Chirazi, and a foreword by Rob Halford from Judas Priest.

A major strategy to reduce transport congestion and other social costs of transport is to ensure that travellers make the best decisions, based on real time information. A wide range of technological systems have been developed to provide this information, but little is known about how travellers actually respond to it. This book offers an overview of various transport telematics options and provides an appropriate methodological framework, followed by a presentation of results from actual applications of these telematics systems from a range of European countries in various transport sectors. The empirical results are supplemented by analytical models and geographic information systems representations with a view on generalizing these findings and identifying the key parameters which determine user response.
Meta-analysis is a formal synthesis of results and findings of scientific studies, which can assist in gaining new insights, explaining differences between results of similar studies, or determine useful directions of research. In this book we focus on the use of meta-analysis in environmental economics and related fields of study. The first part of the book covers the overall meta-approach methodology for social sciences and economics in particular. This is followed by technical and non-technical discussions of statistical and rough-set techniques for analysis. At appropriate places this is supplemented with reviews of applications in environmental economics and related fields. In the second part of the book a number of case studies show different aspects of the application of meta-analysis. The research areas considered include, among others, tourism multipliers, air pollution valuation, risk and value of life, pesticide price policy, travel time savings, and transport externality and policy issues. The benefits of the appropriate application of meta-analysis in environmental economics are a better use of existing information and knowledge, removal of some of the subjectivity from analysis and forecasting, and greater clarity as to where future efforts in environmental economic analysis can most gainfully be deployed.
The aim of this book is to highlight the great potential of decentralized (i.e. local or urban) energy policies in achieving environmentally-benign developments for modern cities. Urban sustainability is placed in the context of the debate on global sustainable development. A wide array of policy initiatives is discussed and evaluated, ranging from market-based energy policies to technological innovation policies for the energy sector. A theoretical framework for technology adoption processes is developed and empirically tested. The main question addressed is: which are the critical success factors for successful urban energy policies? This question is also dealt with in a meta-analytic context by assessing and comparing the performance of energy policies in various European cities, with a particular view to renewable energy.
