The intent of this book is to provide a practical approach to the
recognition and therapy of selected outpatient problems faced by
the internist, family practi tioner, house officer, physician's
assistant, and nurse. The topics selected were based on problems
often encountered by clinicians in the outpatient setting, as well
as by the interests of the authors. No attempt was made to write an
all encompassing textbook of infectious disease. We want to thank
Dr. John Czachor, infectious disease fellow, Saint Vin cent
Hospital, for his contributions to two chapters: mononucleosis and
mono nucleosislike syndromes and selective laboratory studies. We
want to thank Suzanne Hedstrom and Sharon Budzyna for typing and
preparing the manuscript. Finally, we would like to give special
recognition to our wives, Brenda, Roberta, and Bonnie, for their
support during the preparation of this book. Richard A. Gleckman

In this precise and authoritative urological text Mr Ronald Brown
and his associates have scored two firsts. In its emphasis
throughout on the im portance of clinical assessment, history
taking and physical examination, together with its wealth of
illustrations, it offers a' unique view of genitourinary medicine;
and it is the first clinical urology text to be written by an
Australian. The authors' approach to their subject is ideal for
students and physicians confronted with patients with genitourinary
problems. The text is concise, the references valuable and the
index comprehensive. I was particularly in terested in the chapter
on Paediatric Urology with its admirably succinct of hypospadias,
but the outstanding feature of the whole book discussion is the
line drawings and illustrative x-rays, not only excellent in
themselves but in their presentation: the clear uncrowded layout
making it easy for the reader to consult the appropriate
illustration nearby, and where helpful there has been no hesitation
in using the same diagram in several different places. If my
students know everything that's in this book they will know more
than most urologists. It is especially gratifying to me to see this
fine book emanate from Australia and to know that four of the
authors have had their stimulus to excellence in work here at UCLA.

Richard B."
This Book contains a compilation of Poetry that I have written
through the years, in fact, from a teenager and maybe beforehand,
right up to current. It tells stories that you will grasp when and
as you read them. These Poems are written because of things I have
gone through in life, things that I see in people, etc. That is the
reason for my choice of title because I think of a Kaleidescope
changing colors and designs, thats my poetry.
