This is an entirely different type of ritual guidance manual, aimed
at assisting the officer tot understanding his existing ritual book
more fully, and as an aid to learning. It is taken for granted that
the Lodge will have adopted one of the standard working rituals,
and that the Tyler will be equipped with a copy of the same ritual.

Woolly monkeys are large, attractive and widespread primates found
throughout many parts of the Amazon basin. It is only in the last
twenty-five years or so that long-term studies of woollies in their
forest habitat have been successful; they have not generally been
successfully kept in captivity. But now, especially because of
their size, these creatures are pressed on all sides by bush meat
hunters and forest fragmentation. Their future is becoming
critically precarious and the editors feel that it is time to
showcase these animals with a full book.
The editors draw together a number of recent woolly monkey
studies from three Amazonian countries, including five taxa of
woolly monkeys, four of which have recently been reclassified
without using new biological criteria as species rather than
subspecies (Groves, 2001, 2005; Rylands & Mittermeier, 2009).
This volume provides a diversity of studies by well-known
researchers and advanced students on a wide range of subjects using
newly generated data, including a criticism of the recent taxonomic
changes. The varied information contained within "The Woolly
Monkey: Behavior, Ecology, Systematics and Captive Research "will
help readers understand these handsome animals and will, we hope,
energize them to contribute to their conservation.
The Reformation thinker John Calvin had significant and unusual
things to say about life in public encounter, things which both
anticipate modern thinking and, says William Stevenson, can serve
as important antidotes to some of modern thinking's broader
pretensions. This study attempts to give a coherent picture of
Calvin's political theory by following the stream that flows from
Calvin's fascinating short essay "On Christian Freedom," which
constitutes one coherent chapter in Book Three of the Institutes of
the Christian Religion. Stevenson argues that a full examination of
this essay yields not only a more thorough explication of Calvin's
political ideas proper but also a more complete and coherent
picture of their theological underpinnings.
This book aims to evaluate and summarize the empirical literature
in the effects of divorce upon offspring. It provides a
comprehensive, accessible, balanced, and readable resource for
upper-level undergraduate and graduate students, as well as parents
and practicing professionals.
In Qur experience, there is bias and inconsistency in much of what
is written about the effects of divorce on offspring. When
interested students have asked for appropriate resources, we have
been hard-pressed to respond without providing a long list of
contradictory sources. Much of what is currently available reflects
the cultural bias that parental divorce is one of the worst things
that can happen to offspring. This book has grown out of our desire
to provide a comprehensive, accessible, balanced, and readable
resource for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students who
are interested in the effects of divorce upon offspring. We also
hope that it will be useful to parents and practicing professionals
who are not familiar with the empirical literature addressing this
situation. Our primary goal is to evaluate and summarize the
empirical literature in this field. However, we illustrate
important points with examples drawn from autobiographies completed
as part of a class assignment or from client histories based on one
of the author's (KNB) counseling with families who are experiencing
separation and divorce. We have selected life stories that describe
problems in order to show possible results and that even difficult
situations can have a positive resolution. Although the individuals
involved may recognize themselves, there is insufficient
information for anyone else to make an identification.
What is the difference between domestic partnership and marriage? Can you lose an apartment because you're gay? What exactly is the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy? What states don't permit gays and lesbians to adopt? Answering such questions, Everyday Activism will provide the most up-to-date information on Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual issues and be an indispensable resource for anyone who wants to learn the issues affecting Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual people and how to get involved in the fight for equal rights.
BERMUDO alone of the many Spanish theorists and composers of the
16th century seems to have written anything specifically for New
World use. All the more fitting is it, then, to have completed this
monograph in a part of the Spanish Indies that was stirring every
Andalusian's imagination during the days when he was first sending
his books across the Atlantic. In every way his was a remarkable
personality. He was the first to compose and publish any organ
music in Spain. As if the publication of such music in
staff-notation were not enough he also published the first Spanish
keyboard piece in tablature. He was the first in Spain to print any
music in score. He is cited by Pincherle as the first to publish a
harp method anywhere. He pioneered with the first treatise
specifically designed for female use. He also "enjoys" the
distinction of having become in Tapia's Verge! de Musica (1570) the
most ruthlessly plagiarized writer in Spanish musical history. If
bulk determines preeminence he stands above even Tomas de Santa
Maria - who published only one volume, and that containing
considerably less text. If range of interests determines rank no
one else writing in Spanish during his century even approaches him.
Nor does anyone else in Spanish have so many authorities at his
fingertips.
