The Practice of Engineering Dynamics is a textbook that takes a
systematic approach to understanding dynamic analysis of mechanical
systems. It comprehensively covers dynamic analysis of systems from
equilibrium states to non-linear simulations and presents frequency
analysis of experimental data. It divides the practice of
engineering dynamics into three parts: Part 1 - Modelling: Deriving
Equations of Motion; Part 2 - Simulation: Using the Equations of
Motion; and Part 3- Experimental Frequency Domain Analysis. This
approach fulfils the need to be able to derive the equations
governing the motion of a system, to then use the equations to
provide useful design information, and finally to be able to
analyze experimental data measured on dynamic systems. The Practice
of Engineering Dynamics includes end of chapter exercises and is
accompanied by a website hosting a solutions manual.
This book examines the nature of work and management, centring on
documents as a class of management objects which have been
relatively understudied in ethnomethodological research. Treating
documents and similar artefacts as ordering devices, the authors
describe consociation - the social organisation of patterns of
coordinated action in situations where the usual resources of face
to face communication are absent. With a focus on senior managers,
this volume provides a description of the interior configuration of
the world of senior management as the encountered, everyday
experience of managing, drawing on first person experience rather
than ethnographic fieldwork to shed new light on the importance of
third person reflection upon practical understandings. An
innovative study of the social character of such management objects
as spreadsheets, strategic plans, computational models and charts,
Action at a Distance will appeal to scholars of sociology with
interests in ethnomethodology, the sociology of work and method in
the social sciences.
Although conflicting ideas exist about the origin of the shaman, it
is clear that these individuals exist across culture and history.
Research has indicated that a specific altered state of
consciousness (ASC) exists that the shaman utilizes to help the
individual or group heal. Discrepancies in understanding the
shaman's experience of ASC had led to the call for further research
in this area. This phenomenological study aimed to investigate the
shaman's experience of the ASC. Results indicated that the shaman's
evolution was based on the criteria associated with the wounded
healer archetype as well as conditions associated with the
individuation process of Jung. Based on the narratives of the five
participants, the results suggest that the shaman is a person who
has an expanded understanding of the consciousness experience. This
contrasts what Western society has understood about consciousness.
The study also revealed the shaman's experience of the ASC was
accomplished through a pattern of development that resulted in each
participant acquiring the status of shaman.

collectively and turning that leadership into a competitive
advantage. This comprehensive roadmap for optimal leadership
features: * Breakthrough research that connects increased
leadership effectiveness with enhanced business performance * The
first fully integrated Universal Model of Leadership one that
integrates the best theory and research in the fields of Leadership
and Organizational Development over the last half century * A free,
online self-assessment of your leadership, using the Leadership
Circle Profile, visibly outlining how you are currently leading and
how to develop even greater effectiveness * The five stages in the
evolution of leadership Egocentric, Reactive, Creative, Integral,
and Unitive along with the organizational structures and cultures
that develop at each of these stages * Six leadership practices for
evolving your leadership capability at a faster pace * A map of
your optimal path to greater leadership effectiveness * Case
stories that facilitate pragmatic application of this Leadership
Development System to your particular situation This timeless,
authoritative text provides a systemic approach for developing your
senior leaders and the leadership system of your organization. It
