This book gathers the proceedings of the IV International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (ICBHI 2019), held on 17-20 April, 2019, in Taipei, Taiwan. Contributions span a range of topics, including medical imaging, biosignal processing, biodata management and analytics, public and personalized health systems, mobile health applications and many more. The IV conference edition gave a special emphasis to cybersecurity issues and cutting-edge medical devices, as it is reflected in this book, which provides academics and professionals with extensive knowledge on and a timely snapshot of cutting-edge research and developments in the field of biomedical and health informatics.

This volume presents the proceedings of the International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (ICBHI). The conference was a new special topic conference and a common initiative by the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE- EMBS). BHI2015 was held in Haikou, China, 8-10 October 2015. The main theme of the BHI2015 is "The Convergence: Integrating Information and Communication Technologies with Biomedicine for Global Health". The ICBHI2015 proceedings examine enabling technologies of sensors, devices and systems that optimize the acquisition, transmission, processing, storage, retrieval, use of biomedical and health information as well as to report novel clinical applications of health information systems and the deployment of m-Health, e-Health, u-Health, p-Health and Telemedicine.

This book offers all countries a guide to implementing verification systems for medical devices to ensure they satisfy their regulations. It describes the processes, procedures and need for integrating medical devices into the legal metrology framework, addresses their independent safety and performance verification, and highlights the associated savings for national healthcare systems, all with the ultimate goal of increasing the efficacy and reliability of patient diagnoses and treatment. The book primarily focuses on diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices, and reflects the latest international directives and regulations. Above all, the book demonstrates that integrating medical devices into the legal metrology system and establishing a fully operational national laboratory for the inspection of medical devices could significantly improve the reliability of medical devices in diagnosis and patient care, while also reducing costs for the healthcare system in the respective country.
