Season 2 of The Leftovers begins in Jarden, Texas – renamed "Miracle" after it was discovered no one departed. The town has since become a magnet for tourists and people who are convinced it is special and can keep them safe. It is there we meet the Murphy family: John, Erika, and their twins Evie and Michael. While trying to protect his town from frauds and charlatans, John gets an ominous warning from a man who claims to have psychic powers. When world-famous air racer Dusty gets told his engine is damaged and that he may never race again he refuses to let go and launches head first into the world of aerial firefighting. Joining the ranks of veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (Ed Harris), Dusty begins his training to become a real hero. The voice cast also includes Jerry Stiller, Steve Schirripa and Erik Estrada.

But when she discovers that her firm represents a company that tests cosmetics on animals (and some of these are relatives of her Chihuahua, Bruiser), she expresses her views and is promptly fired. Elle, now on a crusade, decides to take her views to Washington DC with all cannons firing. However, the political arena is not easy to break into - especially if you don't wear grey - but with the help of a worldy bellhop (Bob Newhart), Elle manages to convince Congresswoman Rudd (Sally Field) to take her on as an aide and get her views heard.

He hasn't made any friends yet, his big sister ignores him, his parents (Larry Miller and Cheri Oteri) are occupied with their upcoming vacation in Mexico, and his loving but slightly crazy grandmother (Lily Tomlin) is convinced space aliens are casing out the neighbourhood. To make matters worse, the local bully has found Lucas and is making his life miserable, so the boy looks for someone he can push around - and he soon finds a large colony of ants in his yard. Lucas takes out his frustrations by stomping, drowning, and burying the bugs, not realising that the ants see him as a threat to their safety and aren't about take his attacks lying down. Zoc (Nicolas Cage) is a 'wizard ant' who creates a formula that shrinks Lucas to the size of an insect, and the tiny boy is brought before the leader of the Ant Council (Ricardo Montalban) and the Queen of the Colony (Meryl Streep) to answer for his crimes against the ants. Showing compassion, the queen sentences Lucas not to death, but to live among them and see how difficult their circumstances can be.
